The Surfer's Guide to Baja 3rd edition by Mike Parise (2007) Paperback Paperback – April 1, 2007

We just got back from Baja Norte and found this book to be invaluable. It doesn't show every single break but it definately gets you easily and accurately to the best known and more popular surf spots. From there you can find the lesser known, less crowded spots. Don't think twice about whether or not to buy this guide, it's the best one we found.

Basics of how and where are well covered -- and not too much about the actual surf is detailed. As it should be. Best Baja guide out there.

This is the one truly invaluable tool I took with me to Baja. It was detailed and precise, and really took a lot of work out of the planning. Basically its the bible when it comes to surfing through Baja i wouldn't think about leaving without it

i own the surfers guide to costa rica and found it really useful and honest while traveling/scoring surf. i am a nj transplant in san diego and will be taking advantage of baja!!

Don't bother going down to Baja. There is nothing down there but dangerous roads, banditos and onshore wind without rideable waves.

To tell the truth I was kind of disappointed when I got this book and started reading through it. It has some good info on getting down to and around Baja, but it wasn't as detailed as I thought it was going to be. I guess I was expecting more detailed maps/directions to all the spots it talks about in the book. It has descriptions of all of them, but not really directions to all of them. But I guess it's better than just going down there and wingin' it.

I just got back from an awesome trip, due in large part to this guide. Highly detailed, awesome camp recommendations and accurate surf descriptions. A must if you're going to surf in Baja. Hint: I bought mine at a local surf shop and it cost $25. Also, I recommend Baja Camping (Fred Jones and Gloria Jones) as a great complementary guide for camping along the way, between the 2 books we had no trouble finding great options and navigating to the spots.

I think I have covered all the basics in the title of this review. Bacically, if you are planning to head south of the border and explore Mexico's Baja coast then you need this book. Plain and simple do not go without it. enjoy!
