Southern Rock Defined - 10 stars!!!
I had been a fan of the Outlaws since this album was released in 1975 but it wasn't until I saw them in concert at the St. Petersburg Bayfront Center on New Years eve in 1977-8 (I still have the ticket stub) that I became rabid. They never received the same airplay that Lynyrd Skynrd and Marshall Tucker enjoyed except perhaps here in the Tampa Bay area. This was truly a shame as this is quite simply the some of the best music of the genre. The vocal harmonies comparison to the Eagles is inevitable but this too, is not a logical comparison. The music is just too different to compare. From the opening licks on There Goes Another Love Song until the last chords of GG&HT Forever, the beat is non-stop and the guitar playing is quite simply, and there's no other way to put it, AWESOME. Hughie Thomasson, Billy Jones (RIP), and Henry Paul have a way of making you pull out your air guitar and jamming along side them, or wishing you actually knew how to play. The softer sounds of It Follows From Your Heart and Song in the Breeze compliment the harder edge signature songs and no one is immune from toe tapping to Waterhole and Knoxville Girl. I have listened to this album as much or more than any other in my significant collection and I never tire of it. If you've never heard the music, listen to the Amazon clips but they certainly don't do the music justice. If you only buy one Outlaws album, this should be it.

Southern Rock From The Heavens
To listen to The Outlaws is an amazing experience. Blazing melodic guitars. Terrific harmonies. Technical virtuosity. And just plain out great rock n roll. This band never really got the credit they deserved. Even there less known stuff is great. I really believe the Outlaws have the top guitar unit in rock n roll. There picking acumen, feel, speed and melody are all as good as it gets!Great vocals, too! This album is there first offering and its a strong one. You got your well-known radio play "There Goes another love song" and "Green Grass". Also strong are the other entries, there isn't a bad song on the CD."Knoxville Girl" has a strong bluegrass influence. "Stay With Me" is a flat out upbeat rocker. "Song In The Breeze" is harmony heaven and "It Follows From Your Heart" is a great number, a slow ballad which veers from normal Outlaw fare. Also check out the solo in "Cry No More". great guitar work by Hughie thomasson and Billy Jones.

CLASSIC OUTLAWS ALBUM
AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!Can you tell I like this classic album from The Outlaws? This album was recorded in the early 70's and it still sounds great today. This is where Green Grass and High Tides was born. I like listening to the whole album which is hard to say about many modern releases by one-hit-wonder bands. The Outlaws have a new live double album out that was recorded in 2015, you can buy it here on Amazon. They also have a 2012 album called "It's About Pride" that is really good.See the Outlaws live if you get a chance, they really play some awesome guitar oriented music.

A true classic of Southern Rock n' Roll.
A classic recording I had as an LP that I needed to replace as a CD. This was the LP that hooked me on Southern Rock. Well a lot of great music was coming out at around the same time. The Allman Brothers Band Live at The Fillmore also had a profound effect on me as a musician. This CD brings back fond memories of my mis-spent youth, what I can remember of it.

Outlaws are In...
I'm happy I read the historical review about the sad Outlaw saga. I then decided to purchase this particular recording. I heard Green Grass & High Tides on the radio (WFUV), which led me to the search. I love the long guitar sounds on this cut. I wish there were an easier flow from one cut to the next on this CD, though. This is great U.S. American music, along with all other American music I love listening to, like jazz, Motown...

Extremely Good!
There is some astonishing guitar playing on this album. And the sound quality is excellent. It's hard to focus on the fact that this album was released in 1975, when there was nothing "digital" about anything and people still had to "plug in" their guitars to the amps, using cables. Because its sounds so good, that if the Outlaws were a new band starting out today in 2010 they'd still make it. Big time. The sheer exuberance, and swaggering, strutting self confidence of the guitar playing isn't the full story though. The vocals are excellent too. ALL the songs are strong. Although they are undeniably "Southern Rock" , the Outlaws ploughed their own unique furrow with a sound that was all their own. And some of the guitar "set pieces" , or solos, are masterpieces. In fact I believe that the iconic "Green grass and High Tides" is one of the tunes which can be "played" on the appalling "guitar hero" computer game which is currently in vogue, and it is one of the hardest pieces in the whole game, from what I hear.To be honest, I spend so much time listening to rubbish on Youtube nowadays that I forgot how good an electric guitar could sound , in the right hands. This album will make you feel good. If you are one of "seventies" generation it's a feast of nostalgia. But really, it's hard to imagine anyone NOT enjoying this album.
