Fun, retro and great for beginners
I just taught a friend of mine to crochet. She needed a book and I wasn't sure which one to get. This one, unfortunately, has no previews, and I'm sorry I didn't take any screen shots before I gave my friend her gift!Anyhoo, she really loves retro and boho style and is thrilled with the book! It's jam packed with info beginners need to know, but not overwhelming like many beginner books. It's a real pleasure to look at as the graphic design is fabulous. No, there isn't a lot of new and exciting patterns. This is a book for beginners, with a solid selection of patterns for the home. There's no clothing here, which both me and my friend were thrilled about. The book's organization seems wrong for a beginning book, as there's a really great bun section about reading both written and charted patterns at the beginning, but the techniques section is where it usually is in pattern books - at the back. It seems as if it should have been in the front, but hey, it's there. There could have been more photos showing hand movements/positions instead of just close-ups of the hook, but I suppose nowadays with YouTube, it's not a big deal. However, some of us do prefer looking at photos and drawings to moving images for instruction.Still, we both loved this book so much that I won't give it less than 5 stars! It's a pretty and inspiring book and it's also a sturdy hardback with thick pages. It'll last a lifetime! It was the perfect gift and one that I rather hated to part with! The designer's "Crochet Story" that accompanies each pattern is a nice personal touch. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a beginner, advanced beginner, and who loves playful retro home design.

A Nice Book for Beginners
If you like things a little bit retro yet with a modern handmade, homespun look, this book is for you.It is aimed at complete beginners or beginners who are eager to progress to more adventurous projects and explore new techniques. To that end, it contains all the basics such as – lists of hook sizes from US and UK, equipment descriptions, yarn and thread weigh charts, how to substitute yarn and pages of stitch and technique information, plus added tips. That being said, I found some projects I really liked and will be making in the future. My personal favorites are:Contrasting Trim Pocket Placemats by Ilaria Chiaratti on page 12This is a great project for beginners and those who want to use their stash. Take all your brightly colored yarn and make a set of placemats for yourself or as gifts. Adding a pocket to hold the silverware is a really cute idea.Bouquet of Flowers by Emma Lamb on page 16There are some great looking flowers. I know I’ll be making the Tropical Bloom, Double-layered Corsage and Pinwheel Blossoms.Hexagon Motif Blanket by Anita Mundt on page 64 and the coverOf course, this beauty graces the cover and is another great stash project.Monster Gadget Covers by Cara Medus on page 68This is my favorite favorite!! They are a lot of fun to look at and more fun to make as you add your own personal touches. It’s another great project to use up your stash and would make amazing items for a children’s charity. Or add some handles and crochet yourself one crazy purse!

Cute, colorful crochet book, but boring for a seasoned hooker.
I was honestly disappointed in this book! As an avid crocheter (and of course, crochet book collector) I was really looking forward to receiving this one when it came out. However once I opened it and browsed through it, I was less than satisfied.First- you can find many of the crochet patterns in other books (not the exact ones, but patterns that are very similar). Or even online for free. The book itself is super cute and fun to look at with linen-type paper that is fun to flip through and a nice, solid hardcover. The stories behind the designers are great to read as well. Second- it's advertised "20+" patterns. In reality there are only 14 and maybe 3 of them have another variation to the pattern. Half the book is a how-to, which is nice if you don't already own a "how-to crochet" book. The instructions are really well written and easy to understand, so if you are a beginner crocheter it would be a helpful how-to. BUT most of the actual patterns are intermediate (there may be a couple that are considered "advanced beginner").I really wanted to like this book, but it's just average. There are a lot better pattern books out there if you are looking for fun, colorful, and cute projects. But it's not a bad one to add to your collection. Or if you are new/interested in crochet and catch on to things easily, this would be a great book to own (based on the thorough and lengthy "Technique" section). Personally, I think I am making my first return to Amazon.

Love the book BUT
All though I love this book. It has great pictures and even has explanations and directions on some things I am still new too. I find most of the patterns are already online for FREE. which if there would of been a review book before purchase I probably would not have bought it just because I would have seen I already have most of these patterns downloaded from online for free. There may be a total of 5 patterns I have not yet come across but they are probably out there also. Still happy with my purchase since I am still new to some techniques. I would recommend it to a beginner but an experienced crocheter may be unhappy with the projects.

Good for a inexperienced beginner
Half the book is a beginner guide to techniques and the other is some interesting, colourful makes.

bel libro

Love it, and am recommending it!
Ok, finally a book with a beautiful crochet bedspread that is very achievable to make. Love that you can see the full picture without having to purchase first. It very quickly helped me make up my mind to purchase.

Magnifique

Farbenfrohe, liebevoll aufgemachte Inspirationsquelle!
