Good features, but auto lock and interior aesthetics could be better
Installing the lock physically was very easy. It requires an app to set it up. After several failures with nondescript error messages, I tried another device and it worked on that one. With this, it took many times longer to configure it that it did to install it. Fortunately, once the app is up and running, installing a 2nd lock goes very quickly. Some minor cutting to accomodate the new plates was needed. This was done using a utility knife. The plastic box-like object they provide wasn't useful though. The deadbolt recess was oval in shape. It would have been a lot of work to have to chisel all that out just to get the rectangular plastic box in there. That was left out.The main drawback for me is the auto-lock. It is based solely on timing and doesn't care if the door is open or closed. Another lock I have is smarter. It has a hall-effect sensor and locks when the door is closed. Much nicer. I would much prefer this type of locking, but was unable to find a unit that met my requirements. I chose this one as something of a tradeoff. The other problem is aesthetics. What works on the outside, aesthetically, doesn't work so well inside. The inside is a large dark brick like object whose color doesn't match the typical interior decor. It would be better if they had a few covers of different colors to use for the indoor part. I covered the battery cover to lighten the color. The outside unit, though, looks great. One of the reasons I bought it. But there are two very different sides to a door. I am not done yet. I will try to find a way to make it look nicer on the inside. The app is for the most part well written (except for the lack of proper error messages), but the copy function from lock to lock isn't very useful. It doesn't bring your attention to its limitation which is that it only copies the card info. Nor does it say what it did. It just says copied 2 records. Not very informative. It does not copy the fingerprints. Getting the fingerprints is a lot more work. Being able to copy those would be a bigger benefit than the cards which are easy to add.Overall, though, the unit is quite acceptable. The main thing likely to sink it is if the auto-lock turns out to be a nuisance. Auto-lock is a must have for me. A good auto-lock with sensor would be preferred. Time will tell.

Great Value Smart Door Lock
We swapped out our 1st gen August lock with this SMONET lock and matching handle (B09V571VMK). The combination looks great. The quality of the hardware is mid-range at best, but wanted to try a value lock first before upgrading to a name brand like Kwikset or Yale down the road. For $120 (after coupon), the SMONET lock works as advertised and quickly setup the pin code and fingerprints for the whole family, which all work well. We've only had it for a few days, so can't speak to its longevity, but the install was relatively simple and the app is straight forward and easy to use. The most difficult part was aligning the lock plate, which required some chiseling of the door frame, but would need to be done for any new lock.In general, It just works, which is what we wanted, not an overly complex lock/app that tries to upsell the customer on accessories or subscriptions (which has regrettably become the norm these days). My favorite feature is the auto-lock settings, which can be set from 10-60 seconds after the door is unlocked. We never need to worry about an unlocked front door again as long as it's closed. We also bought the gateway (B0811J4PL8) in order to unlock the door when not home and to control the lock from Google Home & Alexa. If you decide to do the same, it needs to be linked to the "ScienerSmart" app/service for Google Home and the "TTLock" app/service for Alexa. It's a bit confusing to have different names for everything (SMONET for the hardware, "Next Lock" for the Android/IOS app, "TTLock" for Alexa and "ScienerSmart" for Google Home. Once you figure this out, then can control the lock across all your smart devices. Google Home actually works better than Alexa and can unlock the door (with a code) from my google next. Alexa linked to the lock fine, but currently can't unlock the door as it says that I need to enable locking in the App, which I've done, but still doesn't work; I'll troubleshoot this more, but no luck on the first attempt. To address some of the other critical reviews, this lock and company is likely based in Southern China and wouldn't expect to have a perfect owners manual or packaging; I don't think it was copy-edited by a native English speaker. That said, these types of locks are a dime a dozen in East Asia and trust that they're working off of proven technology that just needed adaptation for the North American Market. Some feedback for the SMONET folks.....If you want to up your game and improve review scores, I'd recommend hiring out a professional copy-edit company in Hong Kong, Singapore, USA and spend a bit more on the packaging to have thicker cardboard and replace the foam insulators with ECO/Cardboard options (take inspiration from Xioami or Anker). I'm sure these marginal improvements would allow you to better compete with the larger brands on the platform.

Good lock for the money
I was in the market for an electronic lock and this one fit the bill. Bluetooth, fingerprint reader, keypad, and manual entry. The lock was extremely easy to install with decent instructions and basically everything you need to install. The lock has a very smooth feel when locking so seems to be built well It was easy to connect to using the app and program. The fingerprint reader is tricky, it worked great for me but couldn't get any of my family registered after several attempts. Which isa shame as by far the fingerprint unlock is by far the easiest to do. The keypad works well but does have to be "woken" up to input code or more frustrating, to luck.Only issue anyone from my family has complained about is the lock feature. If I was the builder I would change the lock feature to a simple lock icon instead of the hash key. We have had issues waking the keypad up and then holding the hash key down and nothing happening or getting the operation fail warning. But for the most part it works well also, the operation fail is a bit harsh and unforgiving. The RFID cards work well, I wish they sent now than 2. Sometimes it can take several passes before it recognizes which I assume is because it is asleep but otherwise works great (I understand this is common with battery powered devices). So again, for the most part it works really well. I have not tried the WiFi option as it requires a particular gateway. It works be nice if it worked with the Chamberlain gateway a lot of people have for their garage doors.I almost went with the Yale but this one has far more built in options for half the price.
