Major placement issues
I have rated this product three stars based solely on the extreme difficulty with finding a decent place in my living room for it. I need something that's higher up, but this is really designed for a coffee table setting. The quality itself is amazing, and I very much enjoyed playing the ps3 on it. I will be returning it though and going with an epson that has many more options for display and placement.

I use this thing daily so far so good been 10 months and no problems
I use this thing daily so far so good been 10 months and no problems. Can not be mounted in the corner of a room though has to be middle only keystones the left and right edges to go from a square shape to more of a triangle to compensate for elevation... not from left to right though.

GT720 - Awesome short throw projector!
I have had this GT720 for about 3 weeks now. It is AMAZING! If you are considering buying it, just do so because I seriously doubt you will regret it. Hooked up to it currently is an Xbox360, a Philips HTS6600 Home Theater, a WD TV Live Plus HD media player, and a Viewsonic Tablet G. I have all of this hooked up through an HDMI switch. I really have no other projectors to compare this one to - but I honestly do not need anything else to compare it to. I did a few weeks of research into projectors, but for the price - this is a great short throw! In the daytime, the picture is still clear. Obviously at night, it is mind-blowing. All my friends and girlfriend are unbelievably impressed. The short throw projects at 100"-110" from 7 feet away. Perfect for storage on the 2nd shelf of my coffee table. So like I said before if you are considering this projector 1) for the price, 2) for the quality, 3) for the short-throw, this is the one for you!!

DMD CHIP COSTS 330.00 TO REPLACE!!
I purchased this in Jan of 2011... used it as my main TV at home... recently, I stated to see a couple of black and white specks on the image... I thought it was dirt... boy was I wrong... turns out the dmd chip needs replacement... the part alone costs 330.00.... I am soooo disgusted with this whole ordeal... Ill never purchase an Optoma again... no warranty to cover this!!! BUYER BEWARE!!

Color Wheels burning up
This product projects GREAT, and looks GREAT, unfortunately, It hasn't even gone through one bulb yet (I've had it almost 2 years) but it HAS gone through 2 color wheels. Apparently their is a problem with the heat displacement or something, but ya, I had to install a color wheel myself, and now, 4 months later, it is doing the same thing, the part is only 30 dollars, but you have to open it up and do a repair that most people would NOT be able to do themselves. I have never tried another projector, but in my opinion, I would avoid this one.

Great projector for affordable price
Having used this model for about a month now, I have to say excellent picture quality and I love all the input options available. The only strange note I have about it is that the manual claims no 1080i support, however all Blu-Ray movies WILL play in 1080i; not that I'm complaining! Works well with PS3s and 360s. Unfortunately it stretches older software due to screen resolution, but that really can't be helped. Overall, extremely satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this unit to others.

Horrible design defect - no dust filter!
I bought 6 projectors and in just under 60 days, 3 of them died. There is a fatal design flaw in this projector related to heat. The color wheel assembly goes crazy and stops working. HORRIBLE.Edit: There is no dust filter on these and apparently if they accumulate enough dust they will refuse to turn on. This is probably a fire prevention feature but how hard is it to include a dust filter??? Cleaning out the dust solves the problem - but in my opinion a $.10 filter would eliminate the problem altogether.

This thing is amazing!
I bought mine second hand from a guy who planned to buy this exact same machine but 3d ready. Evidently, if you buy an adapter and jump through some hoops, this projector can do 3d but I don't care about that. Yesterday, I'd planned to buy an Optoma hd71 from this guy who could never meet up. I read this ad from a guy raving about his projector. It was cheaper and it's reviews were excellent but didn't compare with the hd71. After speaking to him on the phone, I could see that this was exactly what I really wanted. It is a short throw machine. I can watch movies with my friends in my tiny back yard or side yard and sit 8 feet away from the huge screen. I have a photographers white paper backdrop that is 12 feet wide. I filled the ENTIRE thing from a few feet away. We sat in back of the projector and just relied on the 10 watt speakers so as not to disturb the neighbors. If we start a bit earlier, I'll hook up some surround sound! I first previewed this projector in ambient light during the day at the guys house. He had an apple tv hooked up to it and began wirelessly streaming a video from his iphone so I shoved the money into his palm and ran with it.One complaint...and this REALLY bothers me. The lens cap is ridiculous. I have the backpack to protect the unit but the lens is convex so it's gonna get scratched on the bag! I have to find something easy and effective. I can't believe they didn't improve it on the newer 3d ready model.

Lasting impression
I've had this projector for two years in which I have used it both for gaming (xbox 360) and for watching movies. I believe it is one of the best investments I have made, and is great to have when you have buddies over to game with/watch a movie. Big fan
