The Bollywood Dance Workout with Hemalayaa

if you *hate* working out, then you have GOT to try this!
I hate working out and on top of that I have a bit of a disability to contend with which in my own mind gives me every excuse in the book to avoid any "organized" form of exercise. I've decided that 2012 is the year to get my a** - ummm,.... *act* together, especially health-wise so I've made a commitment to find ways to improve my health and fitness levels. In doing so I had to find inspiring and fun ways to stick with a program that works for me. Luckily I found this DVD which IMO is the perfect solution for those like me that need a little FUN in their workout.Others have described the program at length so I won't go into detail their but I will confirm, yup she does the classic pole dancer hair toss and sexy eyes and you need to be okay with that. I'm more than okay with that - since no one is critiquing me in my living room, I do the sexy eyes right along with her! Beautiful setting and great music, btw!Edited to add: The DVD features the following sections:Warm Up - 6 minutesPlaytime Begins - basic steps 7 minutesFootwork - Fancier steps to burn calories 6 minutesNow We're Hot - Legwork/Endurance 8 minutesGround Play - tone abs, buttocks and core 6 minutesPlayful Dance - Cardio for fat burning and improved coordination 5 minutesCool It Now - return to resting heart rate 9 minutesBonus Performances - Get Inspired! 6 minutesI like that you can turn off the instruction and it just uses the music and visual instruction. I have watched the whole thing but so far only had the ability to get through the first section. It gives a great warm-up and I did not hurt myself which is usually VERY easy for me to do. Goes with the natural flow and rhythms of the body without contorting me into crazy painful positions. My feet stay on the floor most of the time so this is very low impact which is great for my knees (bad arthritis and screws holding knees caps in place due to falls).I'm very pleased with this program and considering how many I own and never use that's saying a lot! Happy to recommend.

So much fun!
As the weather gets colder, I've been testing out different ways to exercise indoors (I'm usually an avid hiker/jogger). I've always written off exercise videos as silly and ineffective (they move so fast, and I never feel like I'm doing the moves right). But this one was SO much fun.There are a few things that I really love about this video:1. The voice over constantly reminds you to do the moves they way they feel right and fun - so I never felt like I was doing it wrong. I found myself closing my eyes and just grooving, and that never felt like cheating.2. She reminds you to smile and have fun! Oh yeah, I forgot :)3. It's the perfect level of intensity for me. I broke a heavy sweat, but I never felt like my lungs were going to explode. Other videos feel like torture.Happy to have rented it. I'll definitely try another one of her videos.

A BEGINNERS Delight!
I am an older full figured woman who does not get much exercise. A distant gal-pal told me she had started this and said "Shannon, this odd bump is protruding from my face! It's my CHIN!"(she is hilarious)I decided to give it a try. Previously, I had watched maybe 5 minutes of Tae Bo, 2 of a Richard Simmons, and seconds of an overpriced infomercial one. WOW! I LOVE this! It is for a beginner, others may find it too low cardio. For me it is a fun dance that someone sweetly talks you through. Great camerawork, and as Ms H says, it's most important to have fun. At last, a workout that you feel great about it AND yourself, no matter what level. You also can't help but feel beautiful and powerful with these sensual movements. And I don't need to move furniture, unless I want to, lol! That means you can download it to your travel computer (SO easy with Amazon's video library) and do it at a hotel. This was my first try at Amazon's library feature, if you haven't tried it, it is TERRIFIC!But back to this video...her voice is like silk, which is important if you plan on watching over and over. This is a wonderful way to start moving if you are very large or have been inactive for a long time because it is very easy to adapt to anyone's limitations. By the same token, as you progress, it's just as easy to kick it up. All this for less than the price of one class!

Couldn't have asked for more
I love so many things about this dvd that I don't even know where to start!1. Hemalayaa is beautiful and inspiring, as are her "sisters" (the other dancers). They have real bodies and seem happy and healthy!2. The set/location is fantastic. The colors are gorgeous and I love the garden behind them. You could imagine yourself in India or even in California (which is probably where it was made) if you want to!3. The music is great. I feel like I'm in a Bollywood movie.4. The steps aren't too hard but are still fun and plenty of cardio (but not too much that I can't breathe).5. The option of turning off the instructions are really cool, too.6. My favorite move is when you get to squat and bend over really deep and come back up and flip your hair up. It makes me feel primal and gooood.7. It makes me feel goddess-y.8. I did it two days in a row, which is a first for me with ANY workout!I usually do a dvd or video once and never watch it again.9. Definitely worth my money, energy, and time!10. If you learn all the moves and want more, you can follow along to the bonus performances!I'm going to go get another one of Hemalayaa's dvds right now!

Me ha gustado mucho porque es para las que empiezan casi desde cero en esta danza. Puedes seguir fácilmente los pasos y las secuencias y resulta muy divertido. Constituye una buena base de inicio.

Excellente découverte!
Dans un décor digne des mille et une nuits, Hemalayaa évolue avec 2 superbes jeunes femmes sur une musique indienne moderne très entraînante! Avec un sourire éclatant, elle nous présente plusieurs exercices qui paraissent simples mais il faut garder le ryhtme pendant 45 minutes!!! c'est tonique et très intéressant pour une personne qui débute. Oui belle introduction à la danse indienne! Et puis il faut le dire Hemalayaa est une jeune femme qui sait communiquer la mentalité même de l'Inde: gaité, savoir s'amuser même en faisant des efforts! Elle respecte bien le corps en proposant par moment des mouvements de danse plus cool et puis hop... c'est repartie! la musique s'enchaîne plus dynamique! Dernière chose, Hemalayaa ne parle pas pour rien dire comme certaines occidentales qui sont des vrais moulins à paroles! C'est une très belle acquisition pour ma part! merci à Amazon qui m'a livré avant la date prévue!

a great fun workout, im new to dance fitness dvds, but they seem a great way to get fit, learn some new moves and have fun!I've started off with belly dance, street dance & this one. which is my favourite - a good full warm up, a workout section which leaces you sweating - can't work out why they aren't! you know you've done something and a sensible cool down. all for around 50minsmaybe the seasoned exerciser would have complaints about the music, the instructions - she's very enthusiastic, but can op for none, and the same routine, but as i'm alternating and not doing it everyday, it's fine.Bollywood dancing certainly does leave you feeling happy and healthy.

Fabulous!
This workout is incredibly fun! Hemalayaa is so charismatic. This program has a real "feel-good" quality and her narration is great. I own many dance DVDs and this is by far my favourite.
