General 33-Piece Classic Charcoal Drawing Set

You really can't go wrong with General's art supplies, and for a beginner this is a great set. For the price, it's also relatively cheap compared to other set or buying the pencils separately. I recommend using an xacto knife or a box cutter for sharpening the pencils since charcoal is sensitive. As for the charcoal sticks, I grinded them to make charcoal dust and they did the job. The picture attached (if attached) was created using a 2B pencil and some charcoal dust for shading.

This is a beautiful selection of many different charcoal pencils. It's different to draw in graphite and in charcoal - they feel differently while drawing and give different effects. Sometimes I want to use one, and other times I want to use the other. This set provides an excellent selection of high quality charcoal pencils that are a great starter set for anyone. I recommend them highly b/c of their quality, the selection, and the different materials included in the kit. I'm not crazy about the sharpener, but I've got an electric sharpener which does a great job. This would be a great starter for yourself as well as a wonderful gift for an aspiring artist.

Like I said, this was a good buy.* The sharpener is good.* The eraser is ok.* The pencils are of good quality and don't seemed to be rotten.* The charcoal sticks came as expected.The only thing I could mention as something interested buyers should look out for is the fact that once the plastic is removed from the box you get excess charcoal dust coming out. The sketch pad got quite a lot of charcoal dust on it. It was a little messy and having to clean it up was a drag but it is charcoal we're dealing with and not regular pencils so its to be expected right? Anyway that's the only thing that really fell in the negative category. I did think the sketch pad could be bigger. The package was also a bit smaller that I imagined but It included everything that I paid for so its all good for $20.00. Overall the product is worth its price and its a nice way to get many useful art supplies in one. I'd definitely buy this product again.

It is definitely worth the price!! Very high quality pencils with good variety of selections. It meets all your charcoal drawing needs.The set is just like pictured.Definitely recommend it!

Been waiting for the set be available for purchase for a while. Everything looks perfect

My wife is the artist and loves working with the charcoal. This set allowed her to have a wide range of soft and hard pencils as well as sticks. She enjoyed this for the aspect of traveling and being able to draw on the go. The pad wasn't a great quality and would recommend investing in a better pad or canvas. Though is ok for quick sketching though. Overall it is a great item for those on the go as well as beginning artists looking to branch into a new medium.

I recently went on a arts and crafts binge. I have been studying literally everyday for past few months and needed something to just get my mind off the stress mode. So i looked up and researched a lot of beginner charcoal sketch pencils and found these to be the best bang for the buck. I used these recently and let me tell you - they are great for the price you pay. My favourite out of the box are the 6 PRIMO pencils.. so soft and easy to use. I also LOVE the carbon sketch pencil included in the set.Overall, this is a great buy. I took off a star because the box says it comes with a drawing pad, and i never received one. That was the only negative to an otherwise 10/10 buy :)

The box arrived in good form. None of the pencils inside break, and there wasn't any flying charcoal dust when I opened the package. The quality of the charcoal pencils and charcoal is exquisite. The darkest black is very dark and the lightest black is decently light. I would never ever use the sharpener that was provided, as it is more effective and useful to use a simple Exacto knife or a retractable knife. The eraser is decent. It isn't the best at picking up the pigment. It just doesn't beat a kneadable eraser or an electric eraser. However, there do exist situations, where the eraser provided, should be used over a kneadable eraser. I like that some of the charcoal pencils have a replacement, but some of the others don't. I don't know why that is. TL;DR high quality materials in the package, although some of the things in isn't appropriate in the set, and we need some more of the items already in the set.
