Lovely Embroidery Book
I like the artist, her approach, and the projects. I’m excited to try being more “loose and artistic” in my embroidery and to try some portraits after reading this book.

Makers will love the instructions and details in this book.
This book is a visual delight. The sketches and finished embroideries are wonderful. The book is packed full of tips and instructions, but the maker can also feel encouraged to do it their way. Amy has packed the book with so many details and how tos that even the most novice stitcher will feel comfortable giving it a try. I am also excited by the 6 women that have been chosen for this project. I would like to embroider all of these for my granddaughter.

Headstart
This is my first time trying portraits with thread. I based the one I did on the Ruth Bader Ginsburg example. I didn't have the colour range and used what I had. The instruction pictures helped for doing mouth, eyes etc. it would have been nice to see a full embroidered example of each project.

Good information
I have not had time yet to enjoy this book but it answered some questions that I needed to know.

Get ready for your friends to ask for a portrait!
This book is beautifully photographed with detailed (but not wordy) directions. There is a great chapter on supplies that will definitely set up a beginner, as well as an experienced sticher. Ms. Frazer has a lovely way of peppering her writing with sweet anecdotes. The step-by-step instructions are easy to follow with plenty of room to add personal touches.
