Well Worth the price and MUCH more.
The media could not be loaded. I decided I would wait until I had the chance to carry this BEAST for two weeks and use it as a work blade.Out of the box, this knife feels SOLID. The blade was centered perfectly in the frame when closed. The detent keeps the blade locked up tight in the closed position. The ball bearing open on this blade is so smooth. As many others have mentioned, it makes a unique sound when it fires open. It’s a beautiful sound. When the blade is open, it is LOCKED open. There is zero play or wobble. This knife feels like a very solid tool when gripped and ready to use. It fits well in my hand. The micarta is a very good textured feel that I know I won’t lose grip on when it’s wet, or oily……And yes, I’ve since used the blade under both of those circumstances and it has proven to be a very good and reliable grip. The blade was “plenty sharp” from the factory. But I can’t leave good enough alone. Never could. I sharpened, and polished the blade how I have always sharpened my knives.I was beyond impressed with the delicate slicing cuts I was able to do on small tomatoes and peppers. Paper thin cuts on Roma tomatoes. Shaving the skin off peppers without any effort at all. The significant weight of the blade keeps it slicing as it moves through pretty much everything like nothing!I decided to test sharpness and slicing ability against a more significant opponent. I sliced at a 3/4” sapling from a gum tree in our back yard. It sliced through clean. There were no chips or deformations to the edge.I have since carried this blade as my daily work knife to open shrink wrap, cut tape, and cut plastic banding from shipments. After two weeks of this, I can still shave pieces from a slice of paper.I did not expect this knife to hold up to everything in the manner that it has. When I purchased the knife, I figured $70 was worth a stab in the dark.My only gripe at all is that I’m left handed and the scales aren’t designed for the clip to be removed and put on the opposite scale to be carried oriented properly in the left side pocket.I have been carrying the knife in my front left jeans pocket. It has not proven to be any more inconvenient than any other right hand oriented blade. However, I intend to swap my clip over. So far, nothing has caught and pulled the blade out of my pocket when trying to access other items in the same pocket. I don’t carry much on me, so I typically have the knife in a pocket by itself. But on occasion, I have dropped my car keys in the same pocket and had no issue retrieving them without the sheepdog XL interfering in any way. It rides and carries high on the pocket.Final summation: the Kizer Sheepdog XL is my new FAVORITE knife to carry with me for ANY and all tasks.

My go-to knife from my new favorite knife maker
My first Kizer knife was the grey XL Sheepdog as I was looking an oversized mid-grade knife. The knife has a great weight and feel to it. After the first time flipping it open I knew I had something special. The action is incredibly smooth, just as smooth as any high-grade knife I've had. The blade arrives razor sharp and holds it's edge better than most others.I purchased a few of the mini Sheepdogs since then and love those as well. When I got my first Kizer XL Sheepdog it was around $100 and I was more than happy with what I got for the price. With the prices recently being almost half that, they are now a must buy for any knife enthusiast. I most ecently added the XL Sheepdog in olive green and it arrived in the same perfect condition as the grey one I got about a year ago.Despite having dozens of great knives to choose from, the Sheepdog is my EDC. The only deciding factor is what pants I'm wearing, as the XL is a beast and awkward to carry with thin material such as dress pants.Overall, the Kizer Sheepdog is comparable to a Zero Tolerance knife at a Kershaw price.

Nice knife to add to anyone’s collection
I really like the looks of this knife, for the price. I haven’t seen any other knives out there with carbon fiber handles, and descent steel at this price. I like 154 steel. I have an old Osborne bench made knife that’s over 30 years old, made with 154cm, and not a scratch, on the blade, that still holds an edge good. This knife feels good in my hand, and looks good. The only con I have with it, I don’t really like the locking setup it has. But I have inspected it, and looks like they beefed it up, better than there other knifes. I saw some reviews that mentioned it as being a huge knife, lol this knife fits in your pocket fine, and it’s not a huge knife. I have big pocket knives, and this isn’t one of them. I don’t know why people complain about a knife being to big, unless they want to carry a lot of other things in the same pocket. I do recommend buying this knife. Great addition to my collection.

Absolute Beauty.
I’ve been on the hunt for a good edc knife for years. Never wanted to spend $200+ on something I would have to use at work everyday (union ironwork) as I didn’t want to destroy a nice knife. That being said I stumbled across this bad boy a little while back and everything about it checks all my boxes for an edc. It is large. Much larger than you would expect. But it caries extremely well for its size. I’ve always been skeptical of buying knives made in china and off of Amazon, but I have to say this one knocks it out of the park. Overall fit and finish is on par with some of the $500 knives I’ve seen. The action/lockup is better than most of the knives I’ve handled/owned. For $100 you can’t go wrong. It is sharp enough out of the box to shave with, however that isn’t quite good enough for me. So I chucked it up in my wicked edge pro 3 and proceeded to equalize the bevel. The left side was at 23° and the right side was at 19.5°. After apexing the blade I took it up to a .5 micron ceramic stone then stropped it with .5 micron strop/polish to bring out that polished edge on the bevel. What better way to improve the beautiful blade? This thing is now hair splitting sharp and has retained its edge through moderate use since sharpening. If you’ve been on the fence with this knife, don’t hesitate. Give it a shot. You’ll more than likely fall in love with it as everyone else here has as well. It’s hard to find a knife at this price point that checks all the boxes and has tons of raving reviews. But this is the one.
