This is absolutely gorgeous, and perfectly giftable, without breaking a budget or looking cheap. I was astonished by its weight lifting it out of the box and the fact that it wasn't just a flimsy trinket -- which I fully expected it to be as inexpensive as it was. It is adorable. It's not too large, about the size of my palm, but it doesn't have to be. The clock, once I figured it out, was easy enough to set (you push it out of the front of the egg and remove the rubber band, pull out the handle a bit, and twist it to your desired time and push it back in. Then replace the rubber band and replace it in the egg). It keeps the time well enough it seems. Mine even came with an extra battery, which was thoughtful of the manufacturer. So, while this would be perfect for a gift... well, it's not. I'm keeping it. Definitely would recommend.

At this price point I was prepared to be disappointed but I was not. The clock is solid, weighty, in my case very nicely painted (I got blue) and a nice compact but not minuscule size. My only slight complaint is getting the top were the chanticleer sits open (It was very stiff) and setting the clock itself (the bezel was also stiff to pull out), But I got them and I'm sure with time they'll loosen up. All in all thrilled with my purchase and I'll be checking out other products as well. Thank you!

I would have given this item a 5 put it didn't come with written instructions. I watched the video, but it didn't have sound, so I wasn't able to find out how to set the clock. I went on u tube and found it there. Setting the clock is hard. It's like setting a 1970's wristwatch. But I did get the hang of it, and it works great. I do like the heavy weight of it. It looks really nice on my bookshelf.

One would think it is extremely fragile, but it is quite sturdy. Vibrant colors. I have yet to figure out how to set the clock, but still very nice. The upper top for the chicken to rest in is a tad tricky to get open. The egg section easily opens, but will stay closed due to the magnets. Charming for any home.

My apologies for my hand being in the picture, but I wanted to give reference for the size of this piece. It's absolutely GORGEOUS and the WOW factor when you open the gift box is quite impressive! I am MORE than happy with this purchase. In fact, I searched this manufactures products and have purchased two other eggs.Btw, this not only came with a battery already running the clock, but ALSO had an extra battery enclosed.And one more thing, I saw a couple reviews that complained of imperfections in the painting. I've just GOT TO ask, "Are you kidding me?" Slight imperfections like that is proof that a real live human being sat there and painted your egg! It's not mass produced junk made by computers/machines. Any slight imperfections make art even more special to me. And I'd like to thank the person that made this beautiful for me.
