Sevylor Tahiti Kayak

After reading other reviews and opinion on cheap inflatable kayaks I was a bit nervous initially with how robust this would be. Anyway I went ahead this summer and got a couple, so all the family could paddle together. On water deeper than 1ft or so, these are excellent craft, though I definitely recommend getting a skeg - transforms the handling. Without the skeg its a real handful getting it to go in any sort of straight line, but still amply manouverable with the skeg fitted.They are a lot sturdier than I was expecting, to the extent that I was tempted into taking it down a slightly more lively local river. As it turned out the depth in the river was a little low over the rapids and so after several worrying groundings and scrapes I reached the end of my run with the boat still intact thankfully. There are a few scuffs and scrapes on the fabric on the underside, but I was very impressed how it stood up to the abuse. Needless to say I won't be repeating the trip until there's a few inches more water in the river!

My husband had this for Xmas as always bashing on he wants a kayak! He has not had it on the water yet but has had it up and down a couple of times at home and is thrilled with how quick it was to get up and down. Its sturdy, solid and has lots of storage space. Will update you when hes been out on the water.

Just used my Tahiti for the first time in the lakes, overall very happy with it and my kids loved it. Was a bit worried after reading mixed reviews but I think if cared for and used sensibly should give lots of fun. It's a bit of a squeeze to get two in and it's more for fun and ease of transportation than serious canoeing which is why I chose it. Worth getting the Skeg for better tracking on lakes/still water. Great for getting out on the water cheaply. Can't comment on long term durability but if used correctly /carefully and stored well I see no reason why it shouldn't last, you mustn't overinflate PVC boats such as this as it will stretch and then be more prone to damage. I am very happy with this canoe for the money.

I have had my K79 for around a year now so I have built up a fair amount of experience on it. For the money it is unbeatable. It might not be as stylish as some of the latest kit, lacking the nylon outer cover of the latest (and much more expensive) offerings by Sevylor and its competitors but it is so robust that, with sensible handling, you don't need that extra weight.I'd echo the comments of the other review here, a skeg is a good investment but they can easily be found on either Amazon or Ebay for about £15. I would also recommend a Kayak type double paddle rather than the traditional Canadian style if you are paddling this alone.If you are, like me, on a limited budget and are also short of space to store a rigid Kayak or Canoe you really can't do much better than this. Personally I'd hunt out the traditional green ones (as per the original 60s design)as they are a little less lary than the bright yellow ones but, for a cheap way onto the water these inflatables are great.

It's super easy to inflate and deflate, handles well with the skeg and great for flat lakes with not much wind (aka, the perfect summer's day). Perfect if you're after something to get you out on the lake to enjoy the view and you don't need to do it in a hurry. It's stable and works much better than I thought it would for a $100. My kids love it and the color gives me a pretty good view of them across the lake. Make sure you get a longer 7' + paddle. The short paddles are ok for the kids, but I needed the longer one to avoid rubbing the sides. Also, a decent foot pump will save you heaps of time as it has boston valves, which I think are a must for any inflatable thing of this size.

Sevylor Inflatable Tahiti Classic Kayak is pretty good if you want something portable to use and don't have the funds to get a real kayak. Sevlor Skeg is a must have add on to avoid "some" of the known spinning of inflatables. Overall it's decent function wise, very durable, and looks good, but if I were to do it again, I would go and purchase a real kayak for my purposes. The constant instability (spinning) got a bit annoying, but it's possible to keep straight if you work together as a deligent team.So it's just okay from me.

I have used my inflatable kayak 3 times and have enjoyed it immensely each time. It inflates easily and handles easily. Appears to be made of durable material. Because it is inflatable, it is affected by wind more than other kayaks, so I recommend purchasing and using a skeg with it.

My husband and I thought it would be fun to do a little canoeing. However, we did not have the means to easily transport or store a rigid canoe. I saw this product on Amazon, and it looked perfect. We have taken the kayak out twice, and have had a great time. We are complete novices, but we have found this boat to be easy to transport, inflate and paddle. We also bought the Sevylor Super Turbo Foot Pump, and it makes quick work on inflating the kayak. The seats are adjustable, and there is plenty of room for two adults. If you are looking for a fun, affordable kayak for paddling around a lake, this is your boat. It easily fits in the trunk of our car and is lightweight when inflated. We are having a great time with our kayak. I highly recommend it.

My family were skeptical about the value of an inflatable kayak -- why not get a real kayak? And in the end I have not convinced them. They prefer the hard kayak we have, as more maneuverable. Of course, even my 12-year old daughter can carry the inflatable, which is a big difference. Inflating it was a problem until we sent away for the Sevylor foot pump, which exactly fits the wide nozzles and fills up the kayak in a jiffy. I still do not know how to fill up the seats adequately -- they have no valve and empty right back out before you can stopper them. Tightly inflated it is easier to handle, but it is still possible to go right when paddling on the right, if you are sitting oddly! My wife compares it to a Lilo (air mattress). I still think its portability will find it an exciting niche, like geocaches that must be reached by water. And it's a cheap experiment.UPDATE: Watch out for mice. Stored this in a shed over winter, only to find a dozen big holes in it this year. So much for our Sevylor kayak. Very delicious for rodents. :-(
