Take your power back...stop letting your children be in charge.
The best parenting advice I ever got. The only book that gives you exact information on how to respond to difficult situations. I especially like using the words nevertheless and regardless when dealing with children that try to negotiate. If you are a helicopter parent into intensive parenting and "child focused" parenting methods...don't bother ...this is not for you...just keep on giving your little tyrant rewards for minimal effort.

Clear Rules Consistent Follow Through and Lots of Love
This is a great book that should be brought back into public lime light! Not to sound uncarring or intollerant, but much of the problem with children's behavior is related to too much permissiveness and lack of parental inveolvement! Too many excuses for bad behavior are circulated. NOT ALL behavior problems are related to ADHD or other physical problems. People have had disabilities for a long time...a disability is NOT an EXCUSE for BAD BEHAVIOR!Gregory Bodenhamer writes from experience on the job and expertise as a parent. Follow the plan outlined in the pages of this book; and kids will respond. Give clearly defined directions, be specific: don't just say be home on time; tell them what time specifically.Use effective follow-through and enfoce the rules you have set. Be consistent in your parenting. Set the rules, define the consequences, follow-through and do it every time!!Who is in control? You the parent! Who learns control? Your kids learn self-control and to follow the rules. They will learn self-respect and will maintain respect for your authority as a parent. They will learn respect for the rules, law, in society.Sound like the kind of kids you want in your home, your school, your community? Get this book and get back in control! Give those in authority---the actual authority to set the rules, enforce the rules, and follow-through effectively, consistantly and support it at home!

Extremely practical book.
This is one of the best parenting books I've read. It is 100% practical advice, with examples of what NOT to say, what TO say and do, etc. It is also a nice short read (about 80 pages of content). Our child is older and quite challenging, so this is definitely not an "It was all better in 4 weeks!" review, but the advice is good, effective, and practical enough you can apply it immediately. The immediate results are due to changes in your behavior, not your child's, but they're gratifying anyway (less arguing and less worrying about what is the right response to a behavior).

Don't pass this one by..HIGHLY recommend
My family, kids teachers, and I highly recommend 'Back In Control' and 'Parent in Control' books written by Gregory Brodenhammer!I do not know anything about what happened at the camp in Oregonthat the review Perry L Wilson from Anaheim, CA United States submitted. Its obvious to me that Mr. Wilson doesn't want to face the fact that parent(s) need to take responsibility for their own kids and 'not pass the buck' so to speak.Whatever happened, I Pray that the family finds peace and forgivness.Again, I highly recommend this book and the Parent in Control book!!If you have a tempermentally difficult child(ren) or kids with special needs, the principals of theses books WILL HELP you learn to talk and manage yourself so that you can manage your difficult child(ren) day to day and still have some sanity. I have read many many books, taken classes, workshops, groups, councelling and this is the only program that we've had any successes with. The techniques and principles taught are applicible to everyone in the family because they are based on human tendancys and not just trying to force the kid to change. As with any program you take what you can use and what is applicable to your situation and leave the rest. Just for the record I have never concidered sending my tempermentaly difficult, special needs child(ren) to the camp mentioned in the other review, not because of the $$ but because I believe it is my resposibilty to stay strong and to train my child(ren) to become as responsible and productive an adult as they can possibly become based on thier individual needs and abilities.IF YOU PASS THIS BOOK ON BY YOU WILL MISS OUT ON AN AWESOME PROGRAM THAT COULD AND WILL HELP YOU!--> Remember you'll only get out of it what you put into it.

Compiled information of other Authors
Pass on this book, pass on Mr. Bodenahmmer's back in control program - he kills teens (Willilam "Eddie" Lee), his back in control program has been temporarily shut down by the state of Oregon, not allowed to practice in California.Mr. Bodenhammers books read like 1939 Nazi Propaganda.I have read Mr. Bodenhammers books - there's better information out there. This book merely is a recruiting tool to con people into giving Mr. Bodenhammmer $16K + to abuse their children.Like a bad "B" movie,....run.New Legislation will eventually catch people like Mr. Bodenhammer, problem is, how many teens will suffer in the mean time?
