Kindle Fire HDX Tips, Tricks, and Traps Paperback – November 4, 2013

I bought a Kindle Fire HDX 3rd generation, however, this book was about the later Kindle generations therefore many of the descriptions of where to go and what and how to learn does not correspond to my Kindle. I can still get enough information to figure it out. My only real concern is that the title or in the description of this manual could have and should have let the buyer know exactly what they could expect to find when they were getting started. This was my first experience with a Kindle product therefore I needed as much help as possible. I have most of it figured out now, but I wanted others to know just what to look for when purchasing a manual of this sort. Otherwise, I have enjoyed this new toy so much and Amazon is a great company to do business with. So all you first time buyers of Kindles, be prepared for hours of enjoyment .

After finally giving in and buying myself the updated version of Kindle (have an older model (not HD, that I mostly use for reading in bed), I realized........I need instructions for this one....... it does more than just turn pages when I'm reading.I've only read about half of the Tips and Tricks so far, working my way slowly thru, but have already found lots of Tips and Tricks to make life with a Kindle Fire HDX much easier. One such - no need to switch back and forth to numeric on the key board - just hold down an alpha key (appropriate one of course) and the number will be highlighted and then type.I'm not new to computers (PCs and before they came along), but I needed some help getting started quickly with my new 'toy'. If you need a bit of TLC to get a jump start, this book is a great help.

I am 82 years old, trying to figure this thing out. I have a 61 year old helping me.Whoopee! I have found I can put some books on here, increase the size of the print, and actually read on this thing. Some games are on but not working too well yet. (I believe its me that isn't working right yet). It has a camera but I have only been able to take self portraits as yet. Hope to learn more on this.Oh yest my email, can read it but haven't sent anything yet........I think. Have a lot to learn. Will be happy when one of my great-grandkids show up to help.

I give an applauds & congrats to the author for writing abook for newbies. But the book can be for well knowntablet owners. I picked this book for a manual, I just got my Kindle Fire HDX 1st of the year & deep in tech trouble. About the book it features clear step by stepinstructions & info. I like this book a lot, I'm going back tothe store to purchase his real version. One problem I hadreading the book then coming out to find the field as tobe explained. I recommend this book for anyone whowants to learn more about their K Fire HDX tablet.Instead of just thinking it's for reading. Signed BigCatman. P.S. My rating stands for how much the bookhelped. I have a better understanding of the Kindle Fire hdx and how to use it.Also feel I now have a reference tool to do things I need to do, but don't have all the steps memorized. I selected a 4 rating because it put me on the right track.I did not venture a 5 because I don't have the experience to suggest I am capable of recognizing a 5.

I am an information systems professional, and an admitted geek, thus I don't often find guides like this that useful. However, this is an exception. It is very well written and is organized in a very useful way. I learned a lot about my Fire HDX from it, so the average consumer should find it even more helpful, and I would judge the writing as very clear for the average user.

Edward Jones has written a book that any kindle HDX user can read. This book is not written for the person who writes programs, or knows all there is to know about computers. If you have a basic knowledge of how computers work, you can learn a lot by reading this book. I am looking forward to putting to use all the new things I learned here, and reading more from this author and others about my tablet. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to make full use of their Kindle Fire HDX.

Very good guide for the first time HDX owner. Written in non-techie, easy to understand language. It's a little difficult to find specific topics one might be looking for. I would like to have had an INDEX at the back of the book. That would have been really great. For that reason alone I give it four stars. However, I recommend the book highly.

This book is worth reading to learn to get the maxs out or your kindle fire. Liked the tricks, tips and traps to explain the topics.

Threre are several HDX handbooks out now, but on balance this is more informative. Especially if, like me, you've upgraded from a Fire HD.

This book is very factual and extremely usefully if you know nothing about your Kindle Fire HDX recommended for the novice.
