Agastya is a space scientist, working on the development of a communication system, to communicate with aliens. But Agastya loses the faith of his seniors and is allotted with a deadline of one month to conclude his project with some substantial results. In the mean time Agastya is informed by his girlfriend Diva (Sonakshi Sinha) about his father's illness. On hearing this they both reaches his native village Paglaapur, whose colorful inhabitants include a man who speaks in gibberish, another who thinks he is a lamp post and everyone else who think that the World War II is still going on. Soon after reaching there, Agastya finds that he was called on a false pretext of illness by his father. On getting apprised about truth, Agastya decides to move back to US, but after hearing the plight of the inhabitants of Paglapur, due to the brushing aside of the village by the government because of its being absent from the demarcated map of India, he makes his mind to come out with some solution for the problem. As the story proceeds, Agastya comes up with a quaint idea pertaining to the crop circle and arrival of aliens in his village, in order to fetch a recognition for his otherwise isolated village undergoing a plight of neglect ever since the independence. With frames moving ahead, Agastya along with other villagers creates crop circle in Paglapur and spreads rumor about arrival of aliens in the village. And from there, amid tremendous media hype, takes over some hilarious sequences knitted around UFO and fictitious man made aliens.

I laughed so much watching this.
I do not watch a lot of Bollywood films, but do pick one from time to time. Going into this one, I was expecting "stupid humor" like in "Dude, Where's My Car?" and this did not disappoint.I think I laughed out loud around 6 or 7 times. And I really enjoyed the pacing of the film. It never drags, and it never feels rushed. This is an accomplishment for a movie that is over an hour and a half long.My only critique to the negative would be that the dancing wasn't up to par when compared to a lot of Bollywood films; however it still wasn't bad.I would recommend this movie to anyone who just wants something fun to watch. Just know going in that it is not high brow humour, but silly humor. I think if you know what you are getting yourself into, you can appreciate it as such. If you do not like those kind of movies, do not watch.

Disappointing
I've watched a lot of Bollywood films. This one wasn't very good. The plot had potential, especially the idea of an entire village formed by escaped lunatics. Unfortunately, the filmmakers appear to equate mental disorder with various forms of stupidity. It reminded me of those corny slapstick skits you can only see on Spanish channel variety shows.

this movie is great. It's just so zany and so loveable
AH, this movie is great. I know 5 stars are for masterpeices but it's so hard to find a movie that you just thoroughly enjoy and I felt the actors were great as well. It's just so zany and so loveable, really unique and a total breath of fresh air (in these times now of sensationalism and violence and all that in over-the-top movies with no real humanistic point to them).I don't know what types of movies you like, but if you liked say "King of Hearts' with Alan Bates and 'Benny & Joon' and if you like Bollywood movies, this one is a gem. It's a sleeper. Laughed a lot and was charmed all the way through.

Poor storyline...
Don't know what was Akshay thinking when he signed up for this movie. He did well in the movie, but storyline... Bad.

Alien visitation Indian style or how I perped a hoax ...
Alien visitation Indian style or how I perped a hoax to gain funding for a large scale investigation, which was the premise of the film! It was humorous and had the flair of a 1940's movie musical from MGM. All it needed was Esther Williams, Dorothy Lamour, Bob Hope and Bing Crosby with Francis the Talking Mule to round it out!

I loved it
Hilarious slapstick...a simple story line, but very well executed for a Hindi movie. It's a different concept for a Hindi movie, that someone outside of India will appreciate better....If you are into Sci-fi, you will recognize Hollywood influences.

A GOOD FILM
Earlier a film by Priyadarshan titled 'Malamal Weekly' was a very good entertainer even watching again and again. Here this 'Joker' film seems some influence in the matter of creating humor by villagers. Story idea is good but practically the theme can not approach to serious standard audience. Picturisation is technically very best, however, I am not sure the print (Greeny shaded) is because of colour loss or technically defective or poor production! The film is very good for those who want laughter :)
