I bought the pen for sketching. It’s reasonably comfortable to hold and easy to post. It fills easily holding a good amount of ink. The fine nib is inflexible but the line is good and other nib are available at a reasonable price. At first it would skip and seemed to be dry but once I rinsed the nib with water the ink flow was good.

Great feel and stroke
HongDian has great fountain pens for cheap... The nibs glide over the paper with ease and does not clog up, for me at least... I love their pens and will continue to do so .. Great look, great price, great strokes .. I recommend HongDian...

Good Product
This was a good choice for experimenting with a bent nib. When the pen writes, I love the flexibility. I can create a range of line widths. The pen is also nice to hold. I am disappointed that I have to clean the nib each time I use it to get the ink to flow. I've tried several kinds of ink and other techniques but the pen just won't write unless I clean it each time I use it.

Incredible pen.
I'm writing this after owning this thing for eight months and writing using numerous blue refills (Asvine Hongdian Fountain Pen Blue Ink Cartridges). This is the best pen I have ever purchased and I have purchased imports, various nibs, and all sorts of pens from this and other sites. It never leaks and the tip is perfectly sized. It's about like a .4mm or. 38 with a tiny bit of ink swell around it. Absolutely glorious

Nice pen but some quirks
This pen writes well and looks good, but opening it is a little annoying and unsatisfying. It’s a twist to open cap (which I’m not a fan of but it’s probably a preference thing) and the seams are unclear due to the design which means youll often accidentally open the ink compartment instead of the cap. It does come with an ink converter which is nice. If you’re not picky about the specifics then it’s a nice pen overall.

Sturdy metal fountain pen with interchangeable nibs and converter
This fountain pen is great. I love the fact that you can change out the nibs, I love it that it has a converter, and it works great with a carbon-based ink I get from Daiso. It is a sumi ink that I lace with either vodka or a solvent that makes it flow better in the fountain pen. It is generally waterproof so I can then color it with watercolors, but it does not travel well during jet travel. My first foray into traveling with a Sketchbook caused my pen to explode during a flight.. what a big mess. I then use cartridges but they tended to bleed into the watercolors. So I started traveling with an ink bottle of this carbon-based ink but it didn't work it always would clog the fountain pen. I then used several different alcohols and solvents (drops of which I used not large portions) and finally found a mix that provided me with a flowing fountain pen. It's not perfect and it requires cleaning periodically but I am generally happy with the results of using particular fountain pen with this particular type of Sumi ink. This picture shows an example of the Hong Diane Fountain Pen cartridge ink compared with my Daiso hybrid ink. Once again it does not travel well, you cannot leave ink in the fountain pen during a jet flight. Your flight attendant will thank you.

Love this pen!
This is an easy to use fountain pen. Unless you hate using fountain pens, this should be in everyone's writing collection. The ink flows easily. I wanted it for Calligraphy but it's not really good for that unless you cut off the tip. I'm not ready to do that but did it in the past with other pens that I owned and it worked well. I may try it with this one because it is so inexpensive. Get one--you'll love it too!

Great value pen!
I bought two pens the same day on Amazon. Plenty of choice for all budgets. And I picked this Hongdian as well as a Jinhao 95. This pen is well built, all metal parts with the exception of the converter, it feels a little heavy but nothing that would prevent anyone from having fun writing with it. It is easy to hold, though, for me, a bit too tiny on the nib section. It holds well in the hand. The writing experience is excellent. At first, the nib was a little scratchy on the paper, but I let the pen go back and forth by pressing gently on the paper for about 50 times and that was it, the nib now glides on paper really well. Of course, nothing to compare with a high-end nib, but you are getting 75% of the functionality at a fraction of the price. I's OK that the paper responds a little to the nib too. The nib is not stiff which is an issue with most Asean pen that require much precision when writing. It is a bit flexible so it responds to pressure a little. The pen color is wonderful and the nib matches the pen color. I was a bit worried of the paint on metal that would be fragile, but not with this guy, it's strong and won't scratch easily. I bring this pen at work and it is professional, not your average pen and yet modest so fits everywhere. Overall, a great buy and I am thinking about buying another one with a different color.
