A welcome change in perspective!
This text provides a counter-point to current trends in special education emphasizing grade level standards and high stakes testing for students with significant disabilities. The authors seem to understand that such students need to develop functional and independence skills to participate with others and achieve meaningful outcomes based on what they are able to do. I recommend this text to special educators who seek the expertise to teach functional academics and life skills to their students.

college student
I search for textbooks through out the web & this was one I purchased for college studies. After reading or using the textbooks some places will purchase for others college students to use.

Great Resource!
This book is full of great tips for teaching students with moderate to severe disabilities. The Key Points help the reader identify key concepts. I love the easy to read format. I bought it for a graduate class in teaching functional life skills and I wish I had this years ago when I started teaching more involved students. It's a great resource!
