works very well to identify the exact leak location
THis product helped me to DIY a skimmer leak. One of my skimmers had pulled away from the concrete and was leaking water. The previous owner had applied silicone caulk like material to seal it - but it was all coming apart and floating around the skimmer. So I decided to do it right. I removed all the old silicone and identified the exact leak location using this dye kit . The dye is very easy to apply due to the included long tube. Also the dye lingers around for a good long time before it disperses in water. Then I used the pool putty to seal the leak area. I retested with the dye to confirm the water was no longer leaking. The fix was a success and now my water level is maintaining well (except for the acceptable level of evaporation). MY local pool company charges $120 just for every visit and then additional charges to actually fix something. I definitely saved myself several hundred dollars. I just hope this fix lasts a long time.Update: 6/25/19. The fix is holding up great so far. I did loose the thin tube that comes with the dye syringe..so had to order another syringe. Its pretty easy to loose the tube so watch out

Excellent product at a great price.
The media could not be loaded. This is an excellent product. Looks like very little dye but you only need minuscule amounts each time you test. Ended up testing all over a large pool and only used 1/3 of the dye. It does not look like a good color in the tube but when you use it underwater it glows green. Can’t miss it even in direct sunlight. Excellent visibility and very easy to use, just squirt a super small amount and watch it move around. If you got a leak it will get sucked in.See video I took testing my pool.

Much better than food dye
The fluorescent version works great in a dark pool with the sun shining. You get a syringe with a cap and a separate small tube that can be inserted temporarily in the syringe. Pretty expensive for what you get, the refill is much cheaper if you have a syringe lying around. The dye stays together nicely and as promised gets sucked into any leaks you have.

Worked perfectly!
Great product! Had a leak in my pool, and thought I would give this a try. In the syringe, it looks very thin, but upon release into the water, it appeared more like a thin gel. Turn off your pool pump before using, and squeeze small amounts out near the areas where you think there is a leak. It is extremely bright, and easy to see under the water, making it easy to watch for a leak. I was able to find my leak, and fixed it. This product performed perfectly!

Worked great!
I bought this along with a container of additional dye. Definitely get the extra dye as there isn't really a lot in this tube if you have to hunt around for a leak. I had a really hard to find leak in by inground cement pool. It took a couple days of trying but I finally found the leak. Hopefully it's the only one. There are some good video's on YouTube that show what you should expect to see visually when a leak is found. Use just a tiny amount in areas you suspect there may be a leak. If you put too much out it may be difficult to see it getting sucked in before it dissipates I the water. ANd be patient it may take a while to find it. As everyone has said the dye is VERY easy to see and worked perfect for the job. I couldn't have found the leak without it.

INGROUND POOL SKIMMER CRACKS
Our inground pool was losing about an inch of water every two days. With a solar cover on, it was NOT evaporation. A crack in the skimmer basket seemed more likely and easier to detect than a pinhole in the liner. I ordered the syringe leak detector and used it in the corners of the skimmer basket. The liquid stays suspended in the water if there is no leak. I squeezed some on what looked like a crack, and the liquid disappeared. I found the problem. There was a two-inch hairline crack on the frame that holds the skimmer basket. I used JB Water Weld to seal it. This putty hardens underwater and is almost the same color as the skimmer basket frame. I recommend this product. The extension straw makes it easier to apply in tight spaces. We haven't had to top off our pool since.

Make sure you clearly understand the purpose of this
I bought this in hopes to detect a water leak on a vehicle. However, the characteristic of this fluid such that it will really hold together even in the water. Ideally I wanted something that will flow and mix with the water to permeate. Then I was going to use an UV light.

Pretty much a waste of money
Pretty much a waste of money. You'll need several of these to even come close to finding any leak. This is like a tiny squirt gun that is gone and empty in seconds. I would recommend saving your money and calling an actual pool leak detection company.
