the book every high school child should own from year 7
This book is very useful for all high school children and also their parents. It is very simple to use. Each section goes through a step by step guide explaining fully how to do that particular maths subject. The text and numbered stages are very easy to use and understand, even if your child is struggling to understand that aspect of the curriculum. There is always a key fact box in the top corner of the page to memorise based on the critical points to remember of each topic. The arrows and numbered examples are really easy to follow and understand each method. What I also found really useful is there are multiple methods to use for each topic, so if you don't understand it the first time you could also try the other style and you get the same answer. Each section of this book is in a different colour so it makes it so easy to understand and to locate each section from the index page. I loved the colours used through out this book, it helps engage the reader and makes it so much easier to work through and the consistence of the colours let you go straight to the bit you are looking for without even thinking. This is such a useful book that follows through the whole curriculum that every child should own one, this is by far the best study guide I have ever seen and will be buying this book. This will also make the greatest homework companion for your child an is also very cheap to purchase it will be the best book your ever buy and this is from the mouth of a teaching assistant. Thank you so much DK for producing this brilliant guide and helping children out there to better understand a difficult subject.

Is it really 'Super Simple'?
I bought this book to update myself on the current situation. I, notionally, reached this level in 1965.There is much more included now than before at seemingly earlier years for youngsters. I do wonder why, when I would estimate that ~ 80% will never need much of it after they leave school. That is something I guess for HMG to think about. If you are buying this book to update yourself and support family members with a sound background in maths it should prove very useful in respect of the terminology and approach used by teachers so that you can at least use the current 'lingo' to sensibly communicate with those you need to. On the other hand, if you are a self supporting student who has had difficulties in the past getting your head around various concepts or even the point of some of it, this book will be of less help as although it does attempt to explain what different bits are used for, it seems a bit light on relevant reasons and more importantly, any particular attention to unravel the common mind blocks that some students encounter by addressing them. If you are a student with such difficulties then seriously consider finding a tutor who can run through all the basics with you to ensure that you have not gone up some wrong pathways in the past and missed the point, needed when tackling later matters.

the best. contains every core standard math topic
I bought a few 4th grade math textbooks from Houghton and a few other major publishers hoping they might help me help my son with his math this year, and this book by my new favorite publisher DK Smithsonian was by far the best. (It also happens to be the only one I looked at that was not a school textbook.) Highly recommended for K-5 parents and contains every core standard math topic.
