** I received a copy of this ebook from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**I loved this book. Quinn and Venetia are really likable characters. They have both been burned by love before and neither is going to willingly fall in love again. When Venetia learns that Quinn is courting her sister, she is determined to get him to stop. She was hurt by the rake she was betrothed to and as Quinn was a good friend of his at the time, she assumes he is cut from the same cloth - there is no way she is going to let him marry her sister.Quinn is not quite the rake Venetia has portrayed him as and unbeknownst to her - he has no desire to marry her sister. His plan is twofold - first to let his sister and cousin believe he is courting a woman so they will back off with their matchmaking and second to restore Venetia's sisters status in the ton. He feels some guilt about his part in Venetia's failed betrothal and her exile.Neither is prepared for the attraction that simmers between them and when circumstances force them to marry, the agree to a marriage in name only. Ah, the best laid plans :)Someone is trying to kill Quinn and unfortunately Venetia is caught up in the attempts. So before they can go their separate ways - they have to catch the killer. This gives them time to get to know each other and to explore the attraction they share. This book was very well done. The mystery is good, but doesn't overshadow the romance. The love scenes are very warm and well paced. The book is well written and flows nicely and finishes nicely (even without an epilogue). It could easily be a standalone read. But you will get the most enjoyment by reading the series in order.

FIERY HISTORICAL ROMANCE - A TOTAL WINNER!
Any book I pick up written by Nicole Jordan has always turned out to be a winner in every way expected! This author writes reads books which are reads in one sitting, page turning, permanent keeper shelf read and reread books! I highly recommend anything written by Nicole Jordan! Sort of like potato chips, you cant read just one! Both the hero and heroine want to stay unattached, but the sparks that fly when they meet captures and holds a physical attraction they can not deny. Fiery passion ignites between these characters!Venetia Stratham, thinking the hero's intentions are anything but honorable toward her sister, boldly tracks the hero and enters a gentlemen's club to warn him to stay away from her sister. Quinn finds everything about her totally irresistible, except when she threatens, in front of everyone present, to shoot him if he doesn't do as she says. Despite whether she actually meant her words or not, when an attempt is made on his life, Venetia is looked toward as a suspect. Quinn, who totally doubts that she is responsible, does the only thing he thinks he can do, he proposes.Although she vows to ignore and remain immune to him in every way, her body doesn't listen and has a mind of its own.I highly recommend this and any other book written by this author to anyone who loves to read historical romance. This one is a winner!

An almost forced marriage and murder plot to enjoy
An attempted murder from an unknown assassin forces the Earl and his new bride to seek refuge in the country. While there they come to develop a friendship and each begin to have feelings of love. But neither can admit this to the other. An abduction forces the H to admit his love, but can the h believe the former Rake? A lovely story than moves along nicely

Meh
The story was ok although the conclusion was rushed and overly simplistic. My main objection turned out to be the heroine's name! Every time I read it, my mind skipped to Venereal (as in disease).

Great Read
Loved this book. 4th in the series of Legendary Lovers. I have read the previous 3 books & this one was just as enjoyable. I would recommend the whole series but this can be read alone. Received an ARC from Netgallery for an honest review.

Totally Loved It!
I really really really loved this story! Mystery, suspense, steamy, romantic, and lets not forget....love. Nicole Jordan scored a home-run with me on this book. If you love immersing yourself into an imaginary historical romance, this story won't disappoint!

Ok
The story was ok for the most part.. the thing that spoiled it for me was having one of the characters named Skye.. in my head I had replace it with sister to get me through the book... it's most annoying when American authors use these ridiculous names in a supposedly regency novel

Bad mistake
I was just getting into the story when the hero stated that he didn't need to marry because his sister's children could inherit his title!

Good but didn't live up to high expectations
I bought this due to glowing reviews, but it didn't live up to my expectations. While it has many entertaining moments it is written in a flowery style that feels like a satire of historical romance.Venetia, a noblewoman cast out by her family for dumping a philandering fiancรฉ, battles with the rake her sister wants to marry. Due to Venetia's past encounters with Quinn Wilde she is convinced he will break her younger sister's heart. But as she attempts to persuade Quinn to leave her sister alone 1) they get the hots for each other 2) somebody tries to kill them. But after a great start the book doesn't go anywhere interesting in the second half and I wasn't able to really engage with the characters. Have I been irreparably spoiled by the works of HR authors who bring deeper psychological insights, such as Christ Caldwell and Eloisa James? Or those authors that offer more wit and humour such as Lyndsay Sands and Tessa Dare? It is an unfair fact of life that if I'd read 'The Art of Taming a Rake' before these other author's I would have given Nicole Jordan's book more stars.

Excellent writing and a steamy romance with a hint of ...
Trust me to start this series with book 4 !! LOL - no matter, this is a stand alone with other family members making brief appearances only. Excellent writing and a steamy romance with a hint of adventure. I look forward to reading the other books about the Wilde family.
