I bought this song book for my 93 year old Mother who remembered this book from her school days and asked if it could still be bought.I was extremely pleased when I found it on the Amazon Web site and immediately ordered it.I was disappointed when it arrived, although being delivered very quickly, the writing and music were very small and a large magnifying glass was needed to read it.This should have been pointed out before buying the book that it was in extremely small print.A large book in larger print would have been much better.

Most of the old school songs are in there but the printing is both small and feint with the first verse printed under the music (which is even less distinct than the subsequent verses printed below.As one would expect from Amazon, it arrived very securely packed and in pristine condition.

I had hoped to find many songs I knew as a child, and they should have been there as it was the right book. But most were so poorly printed that they were impossible to read, even if you know them. This was supposed to be for my grand daughter but quite impossible so it’s being returned. It should not be on sale in this state. Why not take a new impression? There are still second hand copies around.Update: I have now got hold of a second hand copy from about the 1950s. It looks perfect. It would be great if a new impression could be made as this is a cracking collection of songs, many collected by people like Vaughan Williams and well edited by Charles Villiers Stanford. Please, please do a new impression.

A book full of those half remembered songs of school days with Singing Together on the school radio and singing lessons at high school,

The quality of this re-print edition was the poorest I have known of any product I have ever purchased.Even a 1-star tating is too high!What should have been an invaluable product -an economic edition of a 'classic' compilation of British songs -ranging from pre-Elizabethan folksongs, through sea-shanties, carols and other rarities -many otherwise largely now difficult now obtain; - all was hopelessly negated by the print-quality.Around 80 per cent of the print throughout the volume consisted of large blank areas with no print at all in neither words or music.From this product it would appear this company has no quality-control or inspection whatsoever.Obviously mine would not have been a 'one off' faulty copy amidst an otherwise even acceptable print-run.I suggest you do not waste your time and patience - but look elsewhere for an alternative edition, of which there are others available even on this site alone.

I read the other reviews and many were very critical so I was warned, but the presence of another text shown with the Amazon page gave me expectations that the product reading might be better-it wasn't

This was a dreadful buy, which I sent back straightaway. It was completely unreadable, print too small, when you could read it and lots of pages only half printed. I would NOT recommend anyone buy it

This is a very poor quality reprint. The font size is so tiny and the ink so faint that it's illegible. Also it's so tightly bound that the pages won't stay open when placed on the piano. Not recommended.
