LED 2' X 4' Fluorescent Retrofit Kit, 2 Magnetic Mount LED Strips and 1 Magnetic Mount Driver, 40 Total System Watts, 5150 Lumens

Item was purchased on a gamble in order to avoid a complete replacement of a flourescent troffer in our kitchen, which has a dropped tile ceiling. Although it's only been in place a month, the gamble appears to have paid off. I was more careful, and took much more time on installation, than was really necessary, but installation was straightforward once I lifted an adjacent tile to gain access to the feed wires. The magnets on the LED strips have enough power to hold them in place while allowing for adjustment. Instructions suggested attaching the driver box to the existing troffer with self-tapping screws, which is prudent. Some forethought is required for routing the wires from the light strips to the driver box and from the driver box to the feed wires above due to the included wires being fairly long. Better too much than too little, though. Once I removed the ballast cover (pinch fit into tabs on the existing troffer), the path for routing the wires became apparent. Replaced the ballast cover, restored power and turned the switch on.Brightness of the illumination, while subjective, seems much better. There's no buzzing or flickering, and the lighting seems more natural than was put out by the old tubes. It's a notable improvement over what we had, and a bargain to boot. I recommend it heartily.

I was tired of replacing bulbs in my basement fixtures, saw an installation video on YouTube and purchased this. It took about 25 min to install, if only because my 2 bulb fluorescent fixture had a second ballast that wasn't connected - I had to sort out the wiring.The light is VERY bright. There is a delay, but not longer than the old fixture. I'm hoping this lasts many years.To install, you will need a pair of good pliers, a screw fun with a 1/4" hex nut bit and some wire strippers. Oh, and 2 orange wire nuts.

I gave 3 stars because the item was not as shown and it takes awhile to come on.Light kit is NOT exactly as shown. Mine arrived on two aluminum strips with a single strong magnet on each end a plastic diffusion tube covering the LED strip. The "ballist"box also had a single magnet in two corners of the box. While the magnets are strong enough to hold everything up I I expected the LED strips to have magnets on the back and need the aluminum rail.The light takes labout a full second to come on once the switch is activated. While this might not seem like along time I usually walk 6-8 feet into the room before the light comes on. note: we have ours on a traditional manual switch.With all that said, the lights are very bright and installation did take under 5 mins.

As has been stated the installation is quick and simple (earning 1 Star) However out of 50+ retrofits installed we've had 6 failures in just a few months. These are ballast driven LED strips and the ballast have failed. I have only had to replace our standard electronic ballast 2 or 3 times in the 8 years I've worked here. So far very dissapointed.

I secured the power. I removed the old bulbs and ballast. I installed the new LED driver with the wire nuts that were supplied. Everything is attached to the metal fixture with magnetic strips. Super simple installation. Great light source for our laundry room which had been dark for a month as I researched options for LED lighting. These strips are PERFECT!!

The blinding light really needs a diffuser, so retrofit only those lamps that have one. I ordered two and one came to me without the "Y" cable that connects the ballast to the LED circuit board strip. I sent Optilumen a message directly and they mailed it to me. I'd give it five stars but have no idea how long these little LED buttons will last. They say they can outlive you. Could be. The retrofit uses a fraction of the wattage of the florescent bulbs it replaces.

I have over 25 2x4 fixtures in my business and after replacing bulbs, ballasts, and fixtures for years, I tried this and could not be happier. Installation was less then five minutes, most of witch was taking out the old bulbs and it looks great. I plan on switching all the fixtures over to this as needed. I hope they last a long time because I am so excited to be done pumping money in to florescent lights. If you are considering this item, don't hesitate, you'll be happy you bought it!
