Great Soft Sided Crate for our Great Dane
We bought our first one of these XL soft sided crates 3 years ago when we got our Great Dane puppy. We planned to crate train her in a metal crate and use this as a travel crate for overnight trips to visit family. It worked extremely well for this purpose and is easy to pack up and carry. We were even able to get it folded up with a dog bed inside which made packing and unpacking the car easier. After 3 years of use and travel, our dog no longer uses the metal crate at all, she sleeps in this soft sided crate every night. Our 150 lb dog has enough room to stretch out laying down and the feature we love about this crate is the zipper open top, we leave it open and she has enough room to sit and stand up. She's never knocked it over, even in her excited state when we arrive home after leaving her in it while we're at work. The zipper on the side door eventually gave out, but considering the wear and tear it withstood over the years we were not disappointed at all, we just bought our second one of these crates and are sure it will last many more years. The interior metal structure and retractable cross bars that are removed to fold it were in perfect working order after all that time. For the price, this soft sided crate can't be beat in durability and size for large to giant breeds. The color is also great, it's a deep navy, so much better than the other comparable soft sided crates that are funny greens and oranges. We would recommend this crate to anyone without hesitation, and will certainly buy from this brand again in the future.

Puppy escaped several times!!
I have a 5 month old cavalier king charles puppy who weighs about 11 pounds right now. The size of this crate fits him perfectly. But thats the only good thing about this crate. He managed to escape several times. Let me explain:He was first able to separate the two zippers by scratching at them. The zipper can actually be moved up and down fairly easily from the inside. If a dog kept scratching at it he would eventually be able to spread the zipper apart enough to stick his head out and eventually get out.Upon realizing this, we used twisty ties on the zippers (top and front) and figured we solved the problem. Nope! My little guy was actually able to get out of the top by pushing his head against the top mesh. Eventually, the zipper teeth came apart and he was able to jump out. My twisty ties were still intact. This smart guy bested us again! Finally, we put the crate upside down so he could not get out of the top and twisty tied the hell out of it. We finally were able to keep him in. This is clearly not how we should use it.I was traveling at the time and it was my only option. Futhermore, the first time he escaped he got into some chocolate at our friends place we were visiting.Fortunately we got home shortly after it happened and consulted our vet on what to do. He is fine in case you are wondering. My little man is by no means a big dog and he is not very strong. However, he was able to get out of this crate multiple times.I cannot recommend anyone on getting this crate.Aside from the above, the mesh has held up very well. There are no holes and he scratches it a lot when we leave at first. The bars are kind of annoying but you get the hang of it.

No manufacturer or distributor fault.....
This product probably deserves 5 stars, but I can't do that. Through no fault of the manufacturer or it's distributor, the shipping box had been run over. Someone (the delivery company, I guess), taped it up, but the damage was obvious on the package... the inside product faired worse. The metal poles used to 'structure' the crate were bent 180 degrees and, since they were hollow, turned the bend into a cutting hazard. The distributor company refunded my money within a week. I have owned three Guardian Gear soft dog crates. This is the only one to have steel tubes. I ordered from another website to get the same type I had before. Although the steel tube poles gave the crate great stability, I'd rather not risk having any hazards that could hurt my dogs.

Functional for a lax dog
I ordered the large crate for my German Shepard. When packed down, it fits flat in the trunk of a Mazda 3.We'll see how durable it is over time.A few areas for improvement, especially for the larger crates:- Zippered openings on at least one of the longer sides- Carry handles on the shorter sides- Mounting provisions for food and water dishes- A semi-rigid tray in the base with a raised lip to catch "spills" of various origins

Crate's great, but dog won't go near it! ☹️️
Crate was difficult to get the tension rods in place in the top, but other than that, it's perfect size....the only problem is that my dog won't go near it! We've been trying to entice her into it with a comfy pillow, and treats, she will go get treats but won't stay! So I may have to return it if I can't get her into it, if she won't go in the house, I doubt I'll ever get her in in the car! ☹️️ Disappointed, but not with the product.

and very sturdy when set up
This crate is roomy, light for its size, and very sturdy when set up, but boy, is it hard to set up! The two steel rods that fit longitudinally along the top of the crate to complete the frame are ridiculously hard to get into place. There is a spring mechanism that allows the rods to be compressed so they will fit over the metal posts in the inner corners of the frame, but you need to be a body-builder to compress them. It's a two-person job and one of those people had better be a burly man! Very disappointing, as I was looking for a large, sturdy crate that I could take to dog shows and set up quickly and easily.

Nice crate, but easily torn.
Great crate, the XL was large enough for my 7 month old Great Dane, easy to set up, and light weight so it's easy to carry. He even had an accident in it and it was very easy to clean up off the canvas bottom. This would be a 5 star product, but unfortunately, he was able to rip through the top and side! I am trying to figure out how to take advantage of the lifetime guarantee that's printed on the label of the crate.
