Incredibly Useful
I'm a pro carpenter and a routine part of my job is cutting in holes for pipes, outlet boxes, sound systems, navigation electronics, etc. into hideously expensive cabinetry and panels. One shot. No room for error. I have many wood files in my kit and my Auriou replaced most of them. The Grain 3 has been the perfect combination of "aggressive yet subtle" tooth pattern for hand filing, stock removal, nibbling, and finessing detailed cut-outs in mdf, ply, and solid wood without tear-out <On the push-stroke only>. Don't lift up to pull back and you're buggered. A very well done tool worth the expense. I should have ponied up the money decades ago.

Forget the price. Buy it.
This thing is AWESOME. The handle is really comfortable, (you'll need a good, rugged glove for your forward hand as the teeth are murder on bare fingers) and the wood just melts away. You'll save lots of time.

Worth the outrageous price'
I saw one of these in use at the Dixon's gunmakers' fair and it was so well received I had to have one. Worth every penny. Wood disappears before your eyes.

Very High Quality Rasp
This is a very high quality rasp and a joy to use. This is not something you will likely ever find at your local hardware store.
