A worthwhile purchase
This step down transformer has worked flawlessly from day one, helping to power a 1200W Japanese 3-in-1 grill. It's built tough, and does not feel like so many other cheap transformers in the market. This is made in Japan, and it shows in its quality worksmanship and simplicity of use. When connected to my outlets I get a rock steady 100V, with a miniscule variation of + 0.1V to 0.2V, never dropping below 100V. Its power load window lets you see how much power your device is using - our 1200W grill never went into red territory, staying between the green and yellow area which ensures me it's not being overloaded. We're very happy with this unit, and even though it was not cheap, I definitely consider it a worthwhile purchase.5/30/2018 update: We also use this step-down transformer with our Japanese rice cooker on a daily basis. About 1.5 years of constant use and still going strong.2020 update: no problems with the performance of the unit, however I had to round the bottom corners of the unit so it would not scratch my wife’s, or my mother-in-law’s hands when handling it. A simple file did the trick. I myself never took issue with the bottom corners, but a happy wife = happy life ;-)

High-quality, made in Japan!
After trying (and failing) to find a high-quality, reliable step-down transformer here in the US, I finally stumbled upon this Japanese-made 1500W transformer at a local Book-Off in San Diego. The difference is huge, and I believe worth the extra money - especially if you're using it with expensive appliances and don't want to risk ruining them. Unlike the American products I previously bought, this is exceedingly well-made and has lasted 2 years and is still going strong, all the while running 24 hours a day 7 days a week. It even has a ground connection for appliances that use them, and a power indicator to show you how much of its power is actually being called upon by what you have connected.I'm using this to power a newer Toto washlet that uses an instantaneous heater (stated wattage is 1200 or so). This works perfectly for that purpose.
