One of the Best Horror Films Recently Released!!
Let's face it there isn't much left in the Horror genre that hasn't been done already so it's a blessing when you see someone trying to make something new. Sinister is exactly what it says on the tin it's the disturbing story of a struggling crime writer who's moved into a mass murder victim's property after finding old footage the film the story takes a darker turn.Mixing the 'found footage' POV and the more traditional narrative was a refreashing change from all these movies like Paranormal Activity which consists solely of a few slammed doors and flickering lights. The 'melevolant force' of this movie instead of being a ghost, demon or seance-gone-wrong is a pagan deity called Bagul and for those who want to know if it's based on a real pagan legend I can confirm as a pagan it's not (and even if we did we wouldn't depict him as an Insane Clown Possee or Murderdolls groupie). The use of sound and imagery is pure genius it really sends shivers down your spine and creates that wonderful aire of dread, fear and some of the images are left to your imagination which if you have an imagination like mine is a potent combination. So refreashing to see a movie that actually lives up to the hype and expectations, BRAVO!!!

One crime scene too many!
Not a bad film this, genuinely keeps you on the edge and it isn't easy for the most-part to see exactly what's coming next. Ethan Hawke plays Ellison, a writer who has made it a bit of a habit to move, with his family to the scene of his NEXT book in order to 'feel' what happened during and in order to commit the crime and to absorb what the victims went through. This time however, he gets shock after shock and decides enough is enough and consequently leaves the latest location but cannot shake off the evil that occurred.

Sinister Is Definitely The Right Word!
I watched this alone, in the dark on my laptop with my ear phones and there are some jumpy bits that freaked me out at times in this dark supernatural chiller. This follows the story of Ethan Hawkes character as the lead who writes about Murders and he moves into a house that has been the subject of some bizarre murders, but unbeknownst to his wife and kids he begins to unravel some bad news for him and his family. The ending is a shocker, but I expected it in a way.All in all, if you love these types of horror movies then this is for you, but if you are planning to watch this alone and you are afraid of horror movies then make sure you watch this with someone, because there are some moments when you may need to change your pants.5 stars!

A slightly disappointing sequel that lacks much of the tension and charisma that made the original stand out
Sinister established a fun and chilling mythology by means of a mystery that was slowly unravelled by Ethan Hawke's insecure true-crime writer, and worked primarily because we were swept along on the ride with him, discovering as he went. Sinister 2 is a direct sequel, starting a while after the first film and involving a supporting character from the previous movie as they investigate more deaths that might be the work of the sinister supernatural force from the original film. Through his investigation, he encounters a mother in hiding with her two sons at a house he's investigating, and tries to help her. I'll avoid spoilers about both Sinister 1 and 2. However, note that viewing Sinister before this will give you a better idea what's going on, as this sequel assumes you have a degree of knowledge. As a result, the film is at a slight disadvantage - a lot of its best surprises have been revealed in the first movie. Sinister 2 decides to ditch the 'mystery' approach of the first film, and use 'dramatic tension' instead - showing us things that most of the characters don't know, which make it plain the new family are in serious danger.Unfortunately this 'show and tell' approach lacks the eerie suspense needed. A lot of the horror of the Sinister films relies on home movies of terrible events. In the original, they were filmed with terrific pacing, letting us like and identify with the people in the films before anything shocking happened. In this sequel, they don't seem to bother - cutting very quickly to the horror side of things. Unfortunately, this is also a let-down. While one of the home movies comes close to the searing shocks of the original film, the others feel a bit lame and throwaway.Worse - the sense of threat is too low. The direction is competent, and the film has many quite exciting moments, but it ought to be a nail-biter with this set-up and this mythology. It's not. The villains aren't very impressive, and the main mythological bad guy gives us a few gently scary moments but is never terrifying. His big moments fizzle through poor writing or poor tension, and at in one scene he's almost criminally wasted in a cheap jump-scare. Where The Purge sequel upped the ante and included some intelligent new approaches, this seems to have been written rather carelessly, and is bafflingly rich with mis-steps and missed opportunities. It's a shame for one of the most interesting new franchises in horror. Hopefully if it gets a third film, the writers will remember that it has to live up to its name.

Most terryfing film ever!
I went to see sinister in the cinema, and yeah i expected it to be quite scary.... but i was left terrified and I loved it!Being a big fan of "Insidious" and the "Paranormal Activity" films I definitely wanted to see this.It was so much better and scarier than I expected and I loved watching it. It was incredibly creepy and although I got a got few jumps and scares I still couldnt hide my eyes from it as it leaved you glued to the screen. It includes a lot of psychological and horrifying moments. A brilliant storyline and great actors help make Sinister and trully horrifying film!If you enjoy supernatural horror films then you have to see Sinister!
