Good but...
I really loved the 1st book. I wouldn't call them wonderful written but very compelling story and very well researched..it challenged me to really think about what it was like to follow moses in the desert time and to examine my own heart. That said this one was a bit more drawn out. The men are portrayed as very emotional... lots of crying. The situations are very deep to understand where as the first was more the story this one digs more into emotional situations (such as a fathers struggle to be the leader and follow God). It was definitely more bleak than the first. All and all still good but i think a 3rd book would make it better :)

A disappointment after Book 1
I loved her first book, but this one isn't as enjoyable for me or my 4 children. I'm reading it aloud to my kids and there is way to much dialogue, as well, it wasn't until about 2/3 of the way through the book that we finally had all the characters straight in our heads, even after reading A Cry from Egypt. It has a great message & is biblically sound, but just is not as good as book 1. We flew through the first book in a couple of weeks. But, this one has taken a couple of months to finish.

We want more:)
Bought book 1 for my 9th graders literature class as he finished it he was asking for more by Hope. At that time book 2 was just coming out and I snatched it up for him. He loves the books and is asking for more to finish out his 9th grade year. He stays up late to read these books. They add to his Ancient history study this year. Hurry Hope with more. :) Thank you Hope for writing these biblical books.

We read this aloud as a family and enjoyed it very much
We read this aloud as a family and enjoyed it very much! A Stand at Sinai helps readers better understand and relate to the struggles and triumphs Israel experienced during this point in history. It wrestles with difficult questions regarding the character of God. We definitely recommend these books!

Great living-book addition to a Study of Egypt!
Highly recommend this book. This is the sequel to the first book, “a cry from Egypt”. We did an in-depth study of Egypt and how the history corilats with the Bible. This was such a great addition of a living book that really emerged us into the lives of the Israelites as they followed the Lord.

Enjoyable read, but a sad story
It was a good book but depressing. My daughter (7th grade) liked the first book better. The front of the book lists all the characters and that was very helpful in following the story. The book came in excellent condition and on time.

Must read!
This is a family read aloud and we are loving it! We are getting to experience the exodus and wandering in a fuller way.
