Good quality but price has doubled since the last time I made a purchase!
I don't have a lot of experience with barley, so I'm giving this a four star review, because I don't know what the ideal barley would taste like. I can say that it smells fresh, taste good, and the grains are whole and fresh looking. I mainly wrote this wrote this review to express how shocked I was that the price has doubled from about $21 for a six pack three years ago to almost $40 for the same amount today. Just a reminder to those who think we haven't had inflation. And whole grains are supposed to be one of the affordable ways to eat on a budget.

Good whole grains for you!
I love barley in homemade chicken soup but I couldn’t find it in any store nearby. I didn’t really need 6 bags at once but for the good price & convenience it was worthwhile getting it & sharing with someone. I prepare the plain barley in my rice cooker on the “brown rice” setting and later on add it to the soup. Be sure to add plenty of extra liquid to the soup pot because the barley will still continue to absorb the broth and thicken the soup quite a bit.

Gentle on the stomach, gentle on the taste buds
So far I've made Beef and Barley soup, which was so great I next made Chicken and Barley soup. Why is it so easy to forget to use barley? Both I and my hubby love the stuff! It's very slightly chewy and highly satisfying, gentle on the stomach, gentle on the taste buds. Its only drawback is that it needs to be simmered about 75 minutes, which is not a problem if you REMEMBER to start it earlier than most grains. And of course, I wash it first a couple of times, just as I wash rice, just in water in a pot, swirl and swish with your fingers, then strain off the rinse water and do it again. It's so good! Love it!

Used for soup. Good for that. Expires in 3 months.

Hard to find in the store.
I love old fashioned beef barley soup, but I had a heck of a time finding it in the grocery store. Yes, this is a massive quantity of it, but I simple sealed it in glass jars with my foodsaver. It should keep a lot longer, and with winter right around the corner this was a must have staple in our house. I have already used it once, and it is high quality. It didn't just fall apart in the soup right away like some store brands do. It kept it's shape throughout the life of the soup it was in, which wasn't long!

Good quality, nice flavor.
This brand of barley is my favorite thus far. The nutrient quality is good, and the flavor is full and earthy, and is a much healthier and tasty alternative to rice. I also like the resealable pouch and the reasonable pricing for the bulk purchase of this product.

Healthy and Tastes Great!
I love how barley tastes in general, and this stuff is no different. It's great and the package looks great. Great value too with the amount that comes in it.
