Must Read.
This book is a must-read. Many interesting, surprising, and otherwise upsetting things are revealed in this book, making it feel like a rollercoaster. You never know what kind of experience Mr. Edwards (the veteran) will talk about next as you open a new chapter.

Great read
Fantastic read from start to finish. I'm glad this reading was an assignment because I never would've found myself reading it otherwise. Every story was fascinating, I felt like Mr. Edwards was talking to me throughout the entire book. 10/10!

An Incredible Story!
I am a teacher of history and I was blown away by the story of Rollins Edwards. We spend so much time in school learning of the inhumane treatment of people at the hands of the German and Japanese governments, however, this book reveals that the United States also took part in torturous human experimentation. As an oral history, the book reads like a conversation. Owens allows us into the home of Mr. Edwards, to hear his incredible story first hand. I would recommend this book to anyone who would like a more complete understanding of America's participation in World War II.

Really interesting!
I was assigned to read this for a class and it did not disappoint! Highly recommend if you’re interested in war history, specifically if you want first hand insight on events in history.

Rollins Edwards story is shocking and frustrating and Michael T. Owens carefully unwraps the tale of this gentle man now in his 90's. My family includes WWll vets with stories of heroism and bravery but they pale in comparison. Rollins Edwards was exploited, tortured and then threatened by the US Army. He and the soldiers of other ethnic groups who suffered as test subjects need an apology and compensation going back decades. He has had some heavy hitters in his corner to no avail but, his spirit and thoughtful manner have educated countless others in so many ways through the years. The man with two last names is a true hero.

I wanted to read more
It's a very interesting book. The things that he endured is ridiculous. mr Edward's view of life is like mine a little just being optimistic he is a very strong man wish I could have met him he really puts you in there like your a fly on the wall during interviews. I just hope he get his money the government better pay that man and i'm from SC and a black man currently serving in the army in the chemical MOS so this was extra special to me I half to make him proud
