Fantastic Indoor Heater
I bought the 3000W version (HS3000NA) primarily for its length to maximize the distribution of far-infrared heat in the living area of my finished basement apartment. This unit allows me to preserve precious floor area since there wouldn't be a hot appliance, and associated wiring, acting as a trip hazard in the small space. Also, this being an older leaky house, I figured having that extra power available would come in handy whenever we get a cold snap here in Alaska.Due to the tight dimensions of this apartment space, it is mounted about 75 inches off the ground, a little under the manufacturer's recommended 80 inch mount height, and about 3.5 inches below the ceiling (manufacturer recommends 4 inches minimum); which makes the heater sit a little close to the couch/lounging area. As a consequence, the "Low" setting of 1500 watts is more than enough and feels like a nice warm bonfire kind of heat emanating from the window area when seated underneath. Running it at the "Low" setting also means that the heater will draw 6.25A (at 240v) most of the time, well within the dedicated 12AWG wiring I've provisioned for this heaterIn terms of construction, this heater uses two resistive heating elements embedded into the black extruded aluminum panel, so I imagine this construction style makes it much more hardy, and will survive the bumps and rigors of shipping better than quartz rods. Since the black surface becomes hot enough to radiate infrared, it will also heat the air around it, so I have a tower fan nearby to circulate the air. On that note, this probably explains why it does not perform very well in an outdoor patio setting, as mentioned by others, where it could be breezy with air cold enough to sap the heat right off the black panel (get the quartz style patio heaters for that use case).Because the black aluminum panel itself acts as a infrared radiating heat source, it will expand relative to the silver chassis during operation. Expect to hear some creaks as it warms up or cools down. The heater remains silent throughout its operation. In terms of the two 7-segment display, it seems like the display circuit has some kind of sensor to detect orientation, so whether you mount it to have the power cord on the left or right side, the display will still appear upright. Very nifty. When it comes to safety, I noticed there is a high temperature shutoff switch embedded onto the rear silver chassis which will cut power to the heater when it gets too hot. So when installed properly as recommended by Thermoflow, the only damage from leaving this heater on constantly would be to your power bill. Finally this aspect is a con to me, but shouldn't impact the majority of the intended use case; when the power to the heater gets cut, then comes back on, the heater would return to standby mode instead of reverting to its prior state (this isn't mentioned in the manual and I didn't see this aspect mentioned in the reviews I've read thus far). This means I can't install a 240v 7-day programmable thermostat in-line, since the heater would just return to standby mode when the thermostat calls for heat and sends 240v to this heater. It's unfortunate that I don't have a way to make that happen, thus the 4-star review.I suppose this behavior will be very good if you are in an area prone to black outs; should you have a 240v backup generator, you won't have a 3000W load waiting to bog it down as soon as you switch over to emergency power (I would hope you'd have a load shedding procedure anyway). Will recommend to friends.Ps. Since this heater would naturally experience multiple heating/cooling cycles, thus constantly expanding and contracting over the course of its life, I recommend putting small dabs of blue thread locker on the 4 machine screws used to assemble the mounting system. That way you'll have that little extra sense of security that the screws won't randomly loosen on you.

Not enough heat for open outdoor application
I purchased two for my back deck. Was very underwhelmed by the heat generation - nowhere near what one might find at a restaurant patio with glowing elements. Might be ok for a 4 season room, but not good for open environment 100% exposed to elements. They do look nice.

Looks great but falls down on function
Disappointed in heat output.

Pleased.
Easy installation. Needs to be hard wired but does a fantastic job of putting out even heat. Super quiet. Super easy to use. Recommend.

Looks good but does not heat the area!
This heater is terrible. It produces a wisp of heat and cannot even heat the area directly below it. Terrible.. Do not buy it if you want to be warm.. Looks good but no heat!!

Great for small yoga studio
Bought this for my home yoga studio which is only about 100 Sq ft. Assembly was simple. Heat output is adequate. I was able to get the studio to 100 deg F in about 3 hours. I've noticed it will increase the temperature of my room about 10 deg per hour on high setting. I did run into an issue with the unit that required a replacement sent. I was able to contact the manufacturer via the provided email. With a little patience in about a week the manufacturer had shipped out a new unit from Petersburg, VA. I haven't received the new unit yet but hopefully this will resolve my issue.
