Beautiful pages and the story is great
My 3 year old loves this book. Beautiful pages and the story is great. I like how it incorporates many different trains (passenger, high speed train, commuter train, freight train) while going from New York to San Francisco (with a shout out to Chicago!). My son LOVES trains and for the toddler connoisseur that knows all the types of trains, this book is perfect for them. It is not boring but rather lyrical--and yet not in that simplistic annoying rhyme rhythm that many toddler books have. Parents will enjoy reading it and kids will enjoy the story and pictures. It can be a little lengthy per page for the adult reading and the child listening. I read every other page to him and he still enjoys it--doesn't notice the edited version.

Wonderful for train fans!
My 2.5 yo and I love this book! I am sure that older children would enjoy it as well! We originally checked it out from the library and it became a favorite! Very happy to own it now. Cleverly written - text continue across page turns like a train moving on and lots of language to make you feel like you are part of the action! You learn new information about trains without it being overwhelming or too technical. The storytelling is melodic in its way, without rhyming. The artwork is beautiful and interesting, and the reader can find new things in the pictures even after many reads. I highly recommend this book!

Son adores train book
I checked this book out from my local library because my son (who is 3) LOVES trains. He really enjoys this book as it takes you on a journey with various types of trains moving across the country. Each page ends with a fragmented sentence that picks up on the next page, so when reading aloud it is a bit choppy since the book is quite long in size and the pages are slippery. I adore how the book ends though, it is a perfect send off for bedtime.

The train book you won't mind reading again and again and again
After borrowing this from the library for months and months, we decided we should buy our own copy! This is enough detail about trains to keep my little train fanatic happy. The peaceful, rhythmic flow of the story, from one train to the next makes it enjoyable to read even if you aren't quite as train obsessed. A keeper!

Beautiful Watercolors
My 2.5 year old son loves the book, we first got it from the library, now I purchased our own copy because he is always asking for it.It is beautifully illustrated; the story is a bit long for a 2.5 year old, I just shorten it a bit.

i treni raccontano
