Good book but has an error
The prefix 'un' is mentioned as meaning 'one' while the real meaning is 'not'. 'Uni' means 'one'.

Great reference!
Heard interview with author on WGBH radio Boston. Neither my son nor his 8-year-old son can put it down--they read a page together each night.

Great book for children
Really interesting book. For my 7 year old, who is frustrated by how difficult English can be to spell, these insights into how words came to be is fascinating. She is definitely enjoying both diving in to the book and taking a more chronological approach. Some of the words are tough for her to read, but mostly it's pitched just right - certainly from a comprehension point of view. It's quite interesting as a grown up too. This view of how the English language works/is and why is one rarely taught in schools but useful for comprehension as well as curiosity. Recommended.

Received a damaged book
Received this lovely book today, however it has come with huge creases in the front and back cover. It was packed neatly so was clearly bent and damaged prior.
