Yes, Each piece of floss in your kit is one yard long (36 inches). So 18 inches is cutting the piece in half.

Q: Why does the (diagonally)18 inch stocking measure only 12' by 9' by 2'? Seems rather small?

I did not make the stocking that is in this picture. However, my stocking measures 14" from the top left hand corner (as front of item is facing you) to the heel. If you measure from the right hand corner to the toe my stocking is 16". If you measure it like a TV (on the diagonal) it is 18".

Q: Is the star at top empty so that we can put our own mane on it?

Yes! The kit comes with a letters template so you can personalize it for whatever name you need.
