Shuts off.
When it works, it works great. But after a few minutes it shuts off. Power remains on, but no sound.

Works awesome but need to crank gain and preamp in order to prevent it from sleeping
I purchased the amp separate because I had an older unit that needed the amplifier replaced. It's the same amp they use in the new ones today. I just relocated my amp from the bottom to the back. Enough of my construction stuff and to the nuts and bolts here. Everyone's complaining that it shuts off and if you don't crank the gain on your receiver up past zero yes it will go to sleep periodically but to combat that issue as I said simply crank the gain on your preamp and if you would like use an RCA to XLR cable which they sell here on Amazon to further boost the gain because you get more gain through the XLR input. If your receiver has an XLR sub out then you're good to go and just buy a simple XLR cable. Also I use the 12 volt trigger to turn the unit on and off and do not have to use the power switch. Simply my receiver has a 12 volt trigger and when I turn on my receiver the subwoofer comes on. When I shut off my receiver the subwoofer shuts off. That's simple. I own five Earthquake subwoofers total 3 on my system in my man cave and two others in other areas of my home. They are the best of the best and I don't care what SVS says, SVS has actually approached earthquake in wanting to buy parts from them. I don't have enough to elaborate but I know the owners of earthquake very well Abraham and Joseph. Once again if you want something that hits like a cement truck and has the durability of a competition car audio system. Buy this. You won't blow it up and you will just get your mind blown on how great it sounds!!! I have over 30 years of building and studying subwoofers. I will tell you these are the best of the best in the $2000-$6,000 price range.

Good Value if you buy on sale
Bought this on sale for $437, when it was fluctuating around the $600 mark. My priorities were the biggest sound in the smallest form factor. I have an open floor plan, so ‘proper’ sound pressure levels are not possible due to expense and size. My top contender was the SVS PB-1000 Pro, which is ported with a 12” driver. The Earthquake is a bit smaller and goes a bit lower, to about 17 Hz. I can verify that it can hit frequencies only felt, not heard. I was pleasantly surprised that this sub could energize my roughly 4000 ft3 space. The only downside I have experienced is how the auto on/off functions: the amp shuts off after a few minutes without receiving a low Hz signal. This can totally compromise a suspenseful scene that goes from quiet dialogue to a gunshot/explosion or loud background music. I have not been able to find a way to disable the auto off/on, which could be a deal breaker. At its current listed price over $1,000, there is a lot of competition, but at the price I paid, it’s performance is unbeatable.
