Arcade Stick Pro Christmas Limited Bundle pour Neo Geo

I had a Neo Geo AES when it first launched in Japan, bought from a company called PC Engine Supplies (Console Concepts) here in the UK. I remember buying games for a cool £220.00 on average back then. It was basically the best you could buy, an arcade system in your home, years ahead of Sega and Nintendo at the time, but so expensive!Anyway, here we are in 2021 with yet another potential cash grab from SNK who are now perfecting the art of catering for us older gamers nostalgia.Well, I have to hand it to them this time, it is a solid product at a great price point. What you get here is a very good quality arcade stick with a design that allows you to easily swap out parts if you so desire with "arcade quality" components, for example, Seimitsu. What you do get as standard is perfectly fine for your "average" gamer though. I just think it is nice that SNK actually thought about the fact people might want to upgrade in the future.I am not going to go into detail about the features of the stick, but it can also be used on PC, and one cool feature is you can easily remap the buttons to your liking. It can also be used as a controller for the Neo Geo Mini etc.On to the games. Well, 40 are available the moment you turn it on, no longer do you have to unlock them like the initial release and they are all in "arcade" mode now, so just add your credits to continue.Pretty much all the games are fighters (why no KoF 96 thought?), which makes sense really, but it would have been nice to have an equal number of genres included as SNK and their partners did produce some awesome shooters and beatem ups etc. I have compared some of these games to the AES and to be honest, there is no real difference here to all but the most discerning Neo Geo fan. The picture is very sharp, a lot better than the output on the Neo Geo Mini to a TV. Just make sure you are using the correct setting in the menu, proper aspect ration and no filters. Obviously there will be some differences in quality depending on the type of screen you are playing on and the quality of the upscaler.It has to be said though, the big advantage of original hardware is the fact you would be playing it on a CRT through SCART and RGB and that cannot really be beaten in my opinion. All that comes at a cost though, and that is were this setup excels, it is just so easy to plug into your modern HDMI TV and jump in. No expensive original hardware and cartridges, no having to get hold of a CRT and expensive cables, it is literally just "plug and play" something that is very much appreciated these days.The final thing to mention (this is actually one of the best things and reason why most will be buying) is the fact it can be "modified from a software/games point of view, but you likely already know that, so I will leave it at that :)As for the Christmas edition. Well, the only reason I bought this is I own the Neo Geo Mini Christmas Edition. There is a ton of extras you get in this version on top of the "arcade" mode and Christmas theme menu and the already unlocked games. The best of which is the rubber cover for the stick which is actually really nice. There is a ball top cover, a Neo Geo type (none clicky) Joypad and cover, button stickers and a 30th Anniversary hardback booklet. The booklet is pretty poor quality to be fair, printing looks faded and you cannot see the middle of some of the artwork as it is so tight to the spine.Anyway, unless you are a big Neo Geo fan or own the Christmas Edition of the Mini I would buy the standalone edition stick and save yourself some money.

Considering that the scalpers have raised the original neo Geo arcade stick pro prices significantly then this is the real deal.Extra controller, usb adapter, silicone skins for ball top, the stick and the mini pad + an artbook and stickers.Happy customer.I felt the original buttons (matte finish) didn't look great so I changed them to seimitsu buttons.Very happy with the result.

This Christmas bundle is great value for money with all the accessories included. The game selection is decent and the machine is easily hackable to add more. The buttons and stick can be upgraded as well which is great. Highly recommended.

La Neo Geo Arcade Stick es un joystick-consola de Neo Geo, que incluye 40 juegos clásicos de la mítica compañia, incluyendo varios King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury, Metal Slug... La calidad es más que aceptable, y el tacto del joystick y los botones da muy buena sensación. Esta versión Christmas Edition es un poco cara, pero incluye un mando aparte, un pequeño libro de ilustraciones y coberturas de silicona para el mando, la consola y la empuñadura del joystick. Una máquina más que recomendable si eres un amante de los juegos de la Neo-Geo, o, si como me pasa a mi, siempre soñaste con tenerla en la infancia pero te quedaste con las ganas por su elevado precio.

Je bavais dans les annees 90 devant les screenshoot des jeux vidéo neo geo dans les magazines specialisé, n'ayant pas a l'époque les moyens d'investir dans la console et les jeux ; grâce à ce stick arcade la frustration est réparé. Le plaisir est total en branchant la bête à un bon téléviseur, plus la sortie audio au home cinéma s'en est totalement jouissif et très immersif. La stick et de qualité et très ergonomique. La version Christmas est indispensable grace notamment à ces goodies supplémentaires. Mention spéciale pour la housse du stick qui permet d'avoir un grippe et un confort au niveau de la pause des poignées. On apprécie aussi la manette offerte avec, la aussi, la présence d'une coque/housse. Les 40 jeux sont déjà inclus, contrairement à la triste version standard. On aurait apprécié la présence du full set neo geo de la part de l'éditeur, c'est dommage. Manque a l'appel dans ce coffret un câble hdmi de 5 mètres et l'alimentation secteur acheté séparément grace à Amazon. Bref achat indispensable pour les retro-gamer, frustré, des années 90. Les puristes passerons certainement leurs chemins.

Nicely built product and works fine, but not worth the extra money if compared with the standard edition.Instead of actually packaging it with cardboard (as they do for everything else), they actually just stuck my address of the manufacturer box and shipped it - needless to say, box was damaged and scratched and the stickers left a mark - for a collector this is a big no-no.
