You Should Know What To Expect By Now
As a DVD set, this deserves a fairly low score, honestly. No language options at all, a pretty absurd price point (even after Amazon's massive discount), and only one special feature (a very unimpressive art gallery). The only length went to that is even remotely non-universal is that you can select specific episodes from the menu, and the scene skip actually lets you browse the episode, rather than just every episode being its own scene (like the previous Data Squad DVD sets). Even with this, there is an annoyance, however, because the opening and ending credits are not their own scenes, so skipping the intro can be a bit cumbersome with the need to fast-forward accurately. All that said, this is tied for my favorite season of Digimon. Marcus and Agumon, the two leads, have some of the best chemistry in the series, with a sort of mutual hero-worship which is very cute and inspiring. The action is unquestionably the best in the series, which is good because it also the most action-packed season. All this is filtered through one of the most intriguing plots of any season, and I think it's great.

My New Favorite Season
Never have I seen so much action, cliffhangers, and pure awesomeness than I've seen in this season. I literally spent the last 3 days watching nothing but Data Squad. Data Squad can't be compared to the other seasons; it's almost like it's very own show. Data Squad almost has this more "mature" feeling to it, considering the action is more intense and most of the characters are/look older than the kids in the other season. This season is great because it really emphasizes ethics and the characters' struggles to choose a side (humans vs. digimon, bad vs. good, family member vs. family member, government vs. personal beliefs, friends vs. family). Data Squad has their fair share of humor as well, but it's not the cheesy/punny kind that you see in the Adventure or Fusion seasons.Overall, I think Data Squad is a very well-rounded show; it's serious but fun at the same time. Data Squad is so good, I think it even beats Tamers (which is hard to beat).

It's worth it
A good show. I do hate how the dub has been edited however. The show was aimed for a young adult audience. However after many edits, a number which were rather unnecessary, we have a fraction of what it originally was. If you had watched it on TV, you know what to expect. I had only seen the subs before and wanted to see how it was changed for English speaking release.Still, it is a good show that moves in a different direction than the series that came before it. Having something fresh is good!

A good series but a bad product.
So I wanted to buy this series forever and it’s really good. However, the entire dvd setup is very shoddily made and when it arrived, 3 of the discs were loose and sliding all over the case, 1 of the discs is damaged and skips no matter how I clean it. I’m not too pleased with my purchase.

Rock!
This season is by far one of the most complex made. The things with Kuruna, all his plan and with his bio-hybrid to much awesome. The greatest thing in this season is the digivolution so amazing.

More like 3.5. 4 is a bit too high, but 3 is too low.
I have some mixed feelings about this season. Obviously there was the initial shock of a radically different art style and the fact that the goggle head of the season was goggle-less. But I find you get over that shock within a few episodes, so it's really not that big of a deal. Another hurdle for longtime fans of the series is the lack of the 'Digidestined' concept. The kids weren't chosen by powers that be, and provided they have access to a Digital Gate, anyone can enter the Digital World, whether they carry a Digivice or not. (Human made in this season, not mystically bestowed like previous seasons) It's more about a natural innate ability for humans to work together with Digimon that creates DATS members, not destiny.First off, I absolutely love Marcus and Agumon's dynamic. It's one of the best friendships between human and Digimon in the series. If it weren't for Takato and Guilmon in Tamers, I would say it's the best, but this comes to a very close second. (Ironically the voice of Takato, Brian Beacock, voices Agumon, haha)The first couple episodes are strong. It establishes the characters quite well, and introduces you to the idea of DATS. It's similar to Hypnos in Tamers, except I would say it had a purer intent and in some ways digs a little deeper. Similar concept, but still different enough that it doesn't feel like a tired idea. After those initial two, you get about ten filler episodes in a row, and aside from being thrilled to bits that Yuri Lowenthal was a guest actor on one of them, they honestly are a slog. I love the episode with Kristy's birthday however. Bombernanimon's censor into Citrusmon is hilarious and a lot more entertaining. Since it was technically a filler episode, the censor doesn't hurt the plot in anyway so really there's no downside, it's just different. Honestly, it's so crazy and awesome I'm surprised Japan didn't do it first. ;)People tend to talk about the censorship in this season, but I would argue that for the most part this season is the most true to the original. So much of the dialogue is practically a straight up translation from the original. The biggest censor in the series is Citrusmon, but again, it's a filler episode and doesn't affect the plot at all. Here and there they downplay some of the violence, but you honestly aren't missing a whole lot. I've seen both versions in full -- I even saw the Japanese version FIRST years ago so I'm not even biased in favor of the dub.The show finally gets rolling at around episode twelve or thirteen, and if you can make it past that initial slog, you get a major payoff. Aside from a recap episode that pops up around episode 39ish for people who were jumping into the show late when it was airing on TV, there's no filler. It's all plot and excitement and character development that keeps going all the way until the end.Next, I absolutely love the cast. For people who have watched previous seasons of Digimon, the majority of the cast will be familiar, but in a good way. The script is great, the cast is great. I was thrilled to pieces at Quinton Flynn's signature 'got it memorized' line they managed to sneak in there. It's a fun easter egg for fans of Kingdom Hearts and actually worked in the context of the scene really well. So well, that if you don't know Kingdom Hearts, you wouldn't even know that a reference to another series had even been made, so that line will age no problem. The storyline is pretty great, definitely one of the strongest in the series. It does have that slight awkwardness though where it seems like it doesn't quite know the line of being smart enough or too smart. If this were truly a young adult series, more questions should be asked about the events, more doubts, more drama, more issues. Some of the events are too serious for a kids show, and yet if it were as serious as an adult's show, there should be less skirting around issues that would arise with said events. It does touch upon a lot of things that the series hasn't done before though, so even when it fumbles a little on the line between a kids show and an adult show, it definitely should be applauded for the directions it took.I however, do have two complaints about the season, and this is where my '3.5' star rating comes into play. Up until this point, this sounds like at least a 4 star series based off my words, if not a 4.5 or even a 5 despite the rough start. One is on the ending. Don't worry, I'm not going to spoil it. I feel that for the majority of the characters, the ending was great. It's what you would have expected or wanted or hoped for. However for one character, it's not only bizarre, but seems in direct opposition of one of that character's major goals in the season. I feel like it's the ending you think you wanted for a lot of movies when you were a kid, but then when you actually get it you facepalm.Another major complaint I have, and I'm sure I'm going to be in the minority here, is the shameless fanservice. Let me start by first off saying that I am aware that Digimon has had fanservice in the past. I'm not going to pretend I never noticed the cat fight between Angewomon and Ladydevimon (not to mention Angewomon's wardrobe) or the fact that Kazemon essentially flew around in lingerie in Frontier and act like this problem originated in Data Squad. However those instances were never a big deal. Even the aforementioned catfight was portrayed more humorous than sexy, and sure one character flew around in lingerie but aside from that it wasn't really sexed up any further. There was no magically bouncing breasts, no unnecessary camera angles, I honestly found unless you really thought about it you hardly even notice her revealing clothes all that much because it was presented so casually and not really sexually. The other odd instances of fanservice were minor and easily ignored. In Data Squad, once Rosemon is introduced, it's embarrassing and honestly shameful. Miragegaogamon and Shinegreymon and Ravemon all get really cool evolution sequences and Burst modes, but with Rosemon it's literally "CHECK OUT HER BREASTS AND BUTT. WOWZA. WHAT A WOMAN." There's tons of times where the camera makes really unnatural angles on Rosemon purely for the sake of showcasing her breasts and curves. One of her attacks is literally getting naked. What's really embarrassing, is that this is the censored version. It was far worse in the Japanese version. Even more 'sexy' camera angles and pans over her body. She gets hit by an attack or moves slightly quickly, and her breasts are flying around and jiggling all over the place, and certain moments in the dub they paint her dress a bit to make it slightly less revealing. These censors are all welcomed.Let's be honest here. For the types of people who get a thrill out of cartoon breasts, they're not watching Digimon. They're watching something far more explicit. It's a really embarrassing attempt to try and draw that audience in, but really that audience isn't looking for a plot with a developing characters. So is it really so much to ask to keep that sort of thing out of Digimon? It's kind of like when in a movie they'll sometimes shoe horn in a really awkward romance just because they're hoping it'll make women watch, not because it enhances the storyline. It's such an obvious gimmick that it's embarrassing, and to a degree insulting. The fanservice in this season is so excessive, that -- along with my complaint about the ending which is small potatoes in comparison -- it knocks my rating down from what would've been a 4.5 down to a 3.5 for me. To set the record straight I'm not much of a feminist at all. I tend to not be all that interested in female characters and would rather just watch the male characters get all the glory. In fact, I tend to anger a lot of other women because of it, and even I felt so frustrated and in need of serious girl power after being subjected to this. It truly is a shame, because I enjoy the rest of the show so much, but this is a serious black mark because unfortunately it takes up a lot of the show.Anyway, hopefully this review was helpful. I'm sure a lot of people will roll their eyes on my views of the fanservice on this season, but hopefully the other things that I have said will help people decide whether or not to give this season a shot.

Product came damaged
I did not like that the product came damaged. There was water damage inside the plastic wrap, warping the dvd case and art. It also had a hideous order, and some of the discs were slightly scratched, as well as some of the disc art being damaged. Its really gross
