I buy art books for the works of art in the first instance rather than the essays, and although one cannot criticise the production values of this book, the actual examples of ceramics in the collection were distinctly second rate, and not up to the quality of museum specimens that I have seen and enjoyed. I did not read the text, so I cannot comment on this, but have decided to return the book.
