Being an avid runner who typically run 10 miles per day (about half on the road and the other on various trails around the neighborhood) in SoCal, the recent heatwave got me thinking that I have to run at night to avoid driving myself to utter exhaustion. So, I did some research in running magazines and sites and the BioLite head lamps consistently appeared as being a good option. I decided to get the HeadLamp 200 for road running and the HeadLamp 750 for the trails and they are both working out really great. I know I'll put these to good use as well during the winter when the days are much shorter.Running the trails at night is definitely a challenge and I know I needed a powerful head lamp but it couldn't be too heavy or bulky to affect such a demanding physical activity. It was a little spooky at first running into pitch black darkness of the mountain trails but I got used to it pretty fast after a few runs and it's actually very fun. The HeadLamp 750 is very powerful and provides plenty of light for near vicinity as well as further ahead so I can see what's ahead up to around 50 yards clearly. I do have to look up and down regularly to make sure I get good footing as well as seeing what's ahead, so that's the challenging part of running at night but that's still better than running in 90+ degree heat!The 750 is twice as heavy as the 200 but the weight is evenly distributed between the lamp and the battery pack in the back and is fairly comfortable and stays well put even during fast and twisting runs through the trails. I'm very happy with it but I also have the Petzl Swift RL coming and will see how that compares to the BioLite 750. I'm hooked on night running now as there's an eerie calmness to it that one just can't get with "normal" day running. Not having to run about the sun setting early during the winter will be nice too. I should have thought about head lamps earlier. It was this dreadful heatwave that prompted me to look into a way to keep running. It's still hot during the nights with the temperatures in the low-80's but it's certainly heckuva lot better than running in the sun in the 90's. I highly recommend the BioLite head lamps to avid runners who need the flexibility in their schedules to be able to run during the night or very early morning hours.

Even after many hours you can hardly feel that you are wearing it, absolutely no pains. Long battery life, super bright. It's great for trail running at night as the various modes are perfect for a rough terrain

When I first bought this item, it was an all around excellent headlamp. The problem is that after only using it for maybe 8 time to go on small walks (3 miles or so) or complete something simple around the yard the headband has become useless. While the light itself still functions perfectly, the plastic clips that hold the battery pack to the headband snapped off and now it can no longer stay attached to the headband and therefore can no longer be worn. All I'm left with is an unwearable flashlight that doesn't even work well as a flashlight. I'm very disappointed in this headlamp.

You gotta get one - I have four - I use them constantly - religiously - but I'm going to tell you what's wrong with it, too.Okay, the light itself I wear constantly, overall I love it, but it has problems. For the light part, It's the best light I've had, hands down, brightest, most modes, goes into red-mode so I don't blind my pets, and has a really strong head-light-mode beam and an absolutely perfect room-illumination-mode I use the most. It charges quick and lasts a long time. It's electronic so it knows when it's going to die, and flashes a few times before it dies, as well as saving a reserve so it just gets super dim instead of completely dying. Then you can use the super-dim mode for a super long time, that is a great feature. I personally would rather have it be non-electronic and just die when it dies, or fade out, but this doesn't do that, it regulates itself and stays bright for a long time, then does the flashy-to-super-dim mode when it can't keep that up. In fact, my household has four of these. I bought one as a gift for my roommate because I like it so much. The batteries in back take some getting used to, but when you do, I'd say it's the headlamp design I like the most. When you've been wearing it for hours on end, or with a hat, it can stay on top of your head instead of wrapped around your forehead, and balance on top of your head like a crown, and work fine like that. After you get used to the battery pack in back, I'd say it's more comfortable than the batteries-in-front headlamps I have.I started wearing headlamps perpetually since about 13 years ago when my dog ran out in the middle of the night to attack a raccoon and almost got himself all thrashed up, but I saved him in the dark, and started wearing headlamps religiously since then. It was pitch black dark. I heard him go out, and then yelping in the yard. We had bees, honey bees at the time. This was right next to the bee hive. It was pitch black, and I thought he was for some reason getting attacked by bees. So I ran out there and picked him up to run inside with him, shower him off, whatever it took. He was my baby, so I didn't care if I got stung, I just needed to get him inside ASAP obviously, to wash the bees off. Keep reading, it wasn't bees. So I grabbed him, picked him up, started running inside with him. But he leaped like a frog out of my arms. I couldn't figure out what the heck happened, and I couldn't find him. So I ran in and asked my roommate if they knew where he was. They said, he's right here, he's fine! I said, what about the bees, did you get the bees off? She said, what bees, and why is your arm bleeding? I had picked up a baby raccoon, his size, apparently on top of him, biting his back legs! He had little bite marks on his back legs, and I had a coon-gash on my arm from the baby raccoon that I had thought was him, apparently clawing me to leap away like a frog, and I didn't feel that when it happened, because of adrenaline and expecting to get stung by bees anyway. So he was fine, and I started wearing headlamps at night religiously because of it, to this day.And they let you work at night now, you light up your own room, instead of using room lights, they're super awesome - use the room mode, instead of spotlight (or red, if you have pets). I don't even turn my garage light on anymore, since I'm constantly wearing one of these headlamps. That makes it so my mom can't tell where I am, when I'm at her house, since I don't ever turn lights on. She's like "where are you?" if I'm out in her garage, and around the corner, the garage light is off, so it's not obvious where I am.Okay, so there are a few bad sides to this headlamp, mostly all relating to the band. They make the band too large, and not adjustable enough, and there's a weird phone-cord-style power cord going from the back to the front for the batteries to power the light. That could be shorter, for sure. The band isn't adjustable enough, and on one of the four that we have, I've shoved the thick part into the adjuster-buckle to make it smaller, and that worked, overall, but makes it more awkward. Once you sweat on it, if you're working, that stretches it out even more.Then there's the little tiny super-fragile plastic holder-clips that hold the band to the battery piece. Those break. Fast. The first on I dropped, little plastic holder-finger broke off, needed tape to hold the back piece so it wasn't super uncomfortable, has tape on it to this day. Dropped it a second time, broke a second finger, needed more tape. I love it overall, so I bought another one to have a new one. Bad news- the second one i bought broke off one of those plastic fingers without even dropping it. It has tape too now. So I got two with tape on them, to keep them normal, which is not normal. Then I bought a third, so I could still have a 'new' one and I keep it in a shrine, only for those times when I am going out to dinner at night, or something, and want a nice fresh good one. The batteries on the oldest one, a few years old now, still keep up with the new one though, so that's another really big plus. The bands could super use a little more engineering though. The bands are permanently affixed to the headlamp, not replaceable, near as I can tell. I replace the bands on the front-battery style ones, no problem, but these, the bands are permanent, adding to the problem that they're too big, because after time, they stretch out even more, and get even bigger, and even less adjustable. Then there's that the adjustment slips out. I have to tighten them quite often to keep them tight and comfortable, they should have made the band smaller, replaceable, the adjustment not slip out, and the tiny plastic fingers that hold it on not so utterly fragile.The prices are all across the board. I've bought them for $100, $100, $80, $70, it seems like they should start low and make it more expensive later, not the other way around. Stuff should earn it's value, not start high and crash out later when they can't sell enough of them. I want $70 back for the first ones I bought, which were more expensive! I bought one for my roommate at $70 (most recent one) and they told me they don't like the battery pack in back - I said - you get used to it - it becomes comfortable once you do. I actually like that aspect better than the ones with the batteries in front. The advertisement says that balances it - it does, that's correct, and it makes it so when you do get sweaty or tired of having it around your forehead, you can wear it on top of your head like a crown.Another good side is the back has a separate red light so it's a great bike light, and the beam in front is super bright - so it's a great spot light for riding bikes at night overall.I recommend them. I love the lights overall. I don't know of a better one. But watch those little plastic fingers, try not to break them, or you'll be taping it, like mine are. And don't have a small head, because the bands are too large, stretch out, and the adjustment just slips out. You pull both buckles forward at the same time and it tightens it up easily - but slips out a little while later, so that's pretty annoying. Don't sweat on the band, since you can't replace it, and that makes it even more stretchier.We were on vacation, and I saw someone else with a super-bright headlamp - so we had a short headlamp-off - we compared our headlamps - mine (this one) was a little brighter than theirs. So you'll win headlamp-off contests, near as I know, I don't know a better light overall.Headlamps changed my life, and this one in particular, since it is so bright and effective. You wouldn't think you'd need it during the day - but I use mine during the day as well, to see into dark corners, underneath stuff, to see dust you can't see normally, all kinds of stuff you don't know you need it for. Once I had fiberglass on my hand you couldn't see with the naked eye, but you could see it just fine with this headlamp on - increasing safety in an unexpected way - so I saw the fiberglass, and got it off (with duct tape, then Elmers, then super glue, which actually got it 100% off) - and I wouldn't have known I even had it sticking out of my hand without a really good headlamp - you could see all the little fibers sticking in, they glistened in the headlamp light - and were invisible in normal light. I put superglue on my hand, let it dry, peeled it off, inspected with the headlamp, did it twice more, and it was all off.Get it for safety - seeing in dark corners during daytime - camping - biking - working in the yard or the garage at night without any other lights.Get one - just be careful with it, so you don't break it - don't sweat on it since you can't replace the band - it will turn your life around - lets you work at night, outside, wherever, whenever you want - hopefully you'll love it, like I love my three. (The fourth I gave to my roommate as a gift, it is not worn very often.)Now, I haven't tried every headlamp on Amazon. I see some pretty awesome looking ones on here. If I buy those, and they're just as good, (this is one of the most expensive ones you can get) I'm going to be very, very mad at this company, I'm assuming they aren't, so, for now, I'll just say:I don't think you can get a better headlamp. Don't forget to use red-mode with your pets nearby.

Did lots of research on which to buy. This is the one that won. Love the quality and ease of use, including the battery pack in the back for great balance.

Had this for a few months now, holds battery very well, fast to charge back up, brightness is good but very focused, not alot of spread

Not sure why this head torch has so many bad reviews, its bloody fantastic.. I use it for trail running and the max brightness burst mode makes technical downhill running in the dark a breeze. Battery lasts a decent amount and having the battery on the back means the weight is nice and balanced. Half the price of the silva equivalents as well.- just get it !

Great product up until the fourth time I used it, at which point the on/off button became unresponsive while it was on. Very disappointing for a premium product.

Die Stirnlampe ist sehr gut und der Sitz am Kopf ist echt angenehm. Leider ist die Neigungsarretierung nicht sehr fest und die Lampe klappt gerne mal hoch (vorallem bei großen Köpfen) daher ging die Lampe zurück.Der Rückversand war durchaus kompliziert und Problematisch, wobei die Problem nicht durch Amazon sondern Zalias hervorgerufen wurden. Da dies eine Produktrezission ist gehe ich hier nicht länger auf den Lieferanten ein.

After 1 month the upper button is not functionning anymore. Very dissapointed
