"It was the end of the COG - not the end of humanity."
The third book in the Gears comic series, this one covers issues #14-24 of the series. It starts with the six-part story arc Dirty Little Secrets that bridges the gap between Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3! Adam Fenix is racing for a way to stop the lambent polyps from taking over all life on the planet and the Gears are constantly being pushed back further and further to the point where the COG no longer exists! Myrrah's final attack on the stragglers brings the last hope for humanity in the hands of Adam Fenix! The next issue showcases a flashback for Jace's chipped ear and one sortie that he'll never forget! Hoffman's early years, as well as Adam Fenix's early COG career are in the next two issues and Marcus and Dom star in the next two issues along with the end of the Pendulum Wars and Adam's newest invention; the Hammer of Dawn!Finishing off the series at the 24th issue, this book really has some highlights. Although the art by Pop Mhan in the first arc isn't my favorite, the story is really well done for filling in the holes between the games. Jace's `Midnight' arc was nice with much better art by Leonardo Manco, and the only story in the book written by Joshua Ortega instead of Karen Traviss and works well but, like many of the others (and even within the games), if the characters have a helmet on, chances are that they'll be dead by the end of the story. If they don't have a helmet (nor a caution for safety, apparently) they live. At this point, it's just getting really predictable.`They Also Serve' is the next arc drawn by Colin Wilson and it looks just like Manco's work; very detailed and gritty. `Unseen' has art by Julius Gopez and follows a sketchier, yet just as detailed, workmanship. Finally, `Unsaid' `Promise Me' has Pop Mhan back at the helm and a very odd-looking young Marcus in the starring role. The grittiness is dispatched for clean, colorful art that really isn't fitting for the Gears franchise. The textless covers are all there as well as some bonus art at the back as well. All placed in a nice hardcover with a dustjacket and the inside cover just being a blood-splattered Gears symbol. Overall, a nice representation to a pretty darn good story that really gives you a feel similar to the games.

Book meet my very expectation?
This book really filled in those grey areas that raised question as to what was really going on with the locust on gears of war 3 and the storyline from there. I highly recommend getting this one if you're a true fan to finish you collection

just amazing!
Great book so far. just about 15 pages left to read. I have played the game, read the book series, so this is feeling great and filling some gaps left out by the other 2.

Excellent
Develops as independent passages loosely taken from the books (and games). Very entertaining as a comic version of the mentioned. Very recommended.

great read
I will start by saying that I have loved everything karen traviss has done with gears of war. She has turned a mediocre world with stereotype characters into something where everyone and everything feels real. Dirty little secrets hasnt changed anything. The artwork is fantastic, as is expected. I have the hardback and the binding and paper quality is excelent.Story wise, the first few chapters are pretty much recaps of what happens at vectes. It will also be a spoiler for gears 3 if you havent played that yet. I know its supposed to cover the gaps, but in my opinion you really need to have read all 5 current novels and played all 3 games to get the most out of this book as it does contain quite a few of the lesser known characters such as pad salton, nevil and bai tak.The few chapters that deal with the pendulum wars are quite good and its nice to have some artwork to see what these guys look like. The only real dissapointment is the jace stratton story, but I will be honest and say I have never enjoyed his character anyway.
