Great Mobile Base For Woodworking Equipment
This is a fabulous mobile base that is very heavy-duty, despite being nicely adjustable in one-inch increments. I am a retired furniture maker and was fortunate to be able to build my collection of equipment to include some large vintage cast-iron pieces which are very heavy (~750-800 pounds). My new shop is smaller, so I need/want to have all of my equipment mobile, and this base absolutely fits the bill. I considered having a "custom" base welded for my equipment, but thought that I would give this base a try first, given its great reviews...I am completely satisfied, and it's worth every dollar. The steel tubing and welded corners are of a heavy enough gauge that the entire base is VERY stiff once bolted together. The wheels are truly ball bearing, not just a shaft (bolt) going through a bushing in the center of the wheel. The orange levers used to raise the base off of the "steering wheels" are a nicely-engineered eccentric cam that lifts/lowers the load in a controlled way. This mechanism includes an adjustable foot that allows the base to be leveled (within ~1/2" range) relative to the non-turning wheels at the other end of the base. Assembly was very straightforward and took about 30-40 minutes; the next one, which I'm buying right now, will only take about 20 minutes now that I've done one already. I am using it for a cast-iron Crescent Heavy 20 bandsaw that weighs 775 pounds and it is very stable and easy to move around the shop. The next one will be for a Master 24" disc sander, also weighing ~750 pounds, but somewhat more top-heavy. I'll update the review if having a more top-heavy load adversely affects the performance of the base -- my gut tells me that it won't be a problem.

Excellent mobile base, useless instruction
I've had a lot of mobile bases, most of them the cheap things with thin rails. I saw the Bora base in a YouTube video and it looked better than most so I got this one for my Jet band saw (about 400 lbs). I believe in over engineering so this industrial stand is a bit of overkill but I'm glad I bought it. The rails are closed section metal, beautifully painted and of very high quality. The bolts are large and after assembly there's no doubt this thing will carry just about anything. However, the instructions are awful. Tiny illustrations with little or no guidance. For instance the instructions (or illustrations) never show the spring assisted legs! In fact you are told to mount the orange paddles and just go on with the remaining assembly. It's when you're done and you still have the spring assisted feet that you realize, oops, these things must go somewhere. So if you buy this be sure to install the legs before you attach the orange paddles. Also, this industrial base does not "get small" enough for many power tools, like a spindle sander. Check the dimensions of your tool base and compare to the range of this stand before ordering.I'd give 4 1/2 stars because of the poor instructions but the stand is so good that would be unfair, and I can't give 1/2 stars anyway, lol. Highly recommended for your heavy power tools. One last point, the fixed wheels on the ends of these stands are a PITA when you go to move the tool around. There is a more expensive version of this stand that includes freely rotating wheels that IMO is worth the extra money and I wish I would have ordered it. I have the SawStop industrial base with has the fully mobile wheels and it is great.

Better than the photos
It is hard to tell from the photos how heavy duty this is. This is square steel tubing that has been powder coated. The corners are heavy steel. The adjustable sleeve holes are all tapped making it easy to put together and adjust base. There are 2 bolts for each connection, (16 bolts for just for connections!) doesn't seem like a big thing, but the 2 bolts keep the inserts level and keeps base from sagging. This is bolted together, not screwed together, making this a much more serious base. The wheels are strong and roll with ease. I think it raised my table saw about an inch? Maybe an 1.5" The corner bases plates are recessed below the main square tubing. Confusing, but your tool will sit just off the floor about an inch. I have an out feed table and will have to raise it up now a bit. I really like this base. Extremely happy. This base is for a Delta Contractors table saw with a Biesemeyer 40" fence. I added an insert to the side so this thing is a beast to move. I have had this saw about 25 years? Moving this is now a breeze. This base proves there are folks out there who care about making good stuff. Thanks!

Very sturdy base
This mobile base is a little pricey but it is very well built and very solid. I put my 14" bandsaw on it (300lbs) and it works perfect. I sized up to the 3500 because I did not trust the weight ratings on the cheaper Bora model bases (i.e. 2500) and did not want to add plywood decking or supports to make a lighter weight base work as some folks did. They seemed to flimsy. You are not going to bend or break this one. Very satisfied with this base in my shop.

Fine by itself, but read if you are getting the table saw extension
This base is sturdy, adjustable, and easy to put together. There are only two issues I ran into, one is the fixed wheels on one side and the other is the minimum dimensions this supports. The fixed wheels are fine if you are using this base by itself. If you are adding the T-shaped table saw extension (Bora Pm-3036 Extension Rail Kit), however, you end up with two locking wheels on one end, two fixed wheels in the middle, and two locking wheels on the other end. The fixed wheels just don't work when you want to move in a universal direction. Bora DOES make a base with 4 locking wheels (Bora Portamate Mobile Base PM-3550 Industrial Strength with Swivel Wheels), but it is almost double the cost. However, if you're using the extension then this is the base that you probably want. My setup works as is, but it requires a little more moving the table back and forth to keep the fixed wheels from dragging. As for the minimum lengths, you can cut the bars if you need to shorten them. If you do that then don't cut all the length off one end. Instead shorten from both ends so that you retain the pre-drilled holes.

Capable of handling the weight and still be very mobile.
I used the Bora 3500 for my panel saw which weights just under 1,000 pounds. It allows me move it with ease. The lock down breaks work great , giving a stable work station after it is moved & locked.

Works really well!
We have a plastic cabinet for storage sitting on top of this Portamate. It’s great. The ability to shrink and expand this rolling base is also a big asset.

Five Stars
These are heavy duty, solid bases. You won't regret the purchase. Although not cheap, worth it. For heavier tools.

Good mobile base.... but not as adjustable once you get outside of the advertised size
I am not one to write a lot of reviews, but thought it worthwhile for this base. I would give good marks for the mobile base being well constructed and very heavy duty. The wheels also seem to be quite heavy duty which you would expect for a unit that can reportedly hold up to 1500 lbs. It was also pretty straight forward to put the base together. The reason why I can only give it a 3 star rating is due to the fact I put this on a jointer which had a 16" x 46" base. I was therefore outside of the max size even though I ordered the rail extensions and couplings. With the rail extensions and couplings, you jump to a minimum length somewhere over 50" which was far too large for my machine. I ended up taking the rail extensions to a local machine shop and had them lengthened by 4" (thus avoiding using the couplers). I also had them take out a couple of inches for the width wise rails as well so everything fit better. In the end, the base fits fine and functions like you would expect it to. Just be aware, you may have to do some custom work to make it fit your machine.
