Serendipitous Find
I built a module similar to this about 4 years ago, around a GainSpan WiFi module. I used this module to drive an LED message board for my holiday light shows.Recently, the sign malfunctioned. Troubleshooting indicated that the GainSpan module had failed. Upon trying to attain a replacement module to repair the board, I found that the price of the GainSpan module had almost doubled in the last 4 years. In its place, I used this module to replace the entire communications board that I had designed. Setup on this module was very easy. I had written a Winsock program to communicate with the sign, and it worked quite well with this module as the WiFi Interface for the sign. This package plugged into my existing application flawlessly. As to its longevity, we will just have to wait and see if it lasts as long as the GainSpan module. The only critique that I have is that the documentation should be available somewhere so that it can be studied prior to purchase. I took a leap of faith here, hoping that this module would have the features that I needed.Shipping was an extra $20 or so via Epacket from China, but the original module cost me close to $150 to build, so the price of this, with shipping, was less than my original breadboard design.Very satisfied with the module and the shipping time.
