Puppy Liked
My dog wouldn't give me a definitive "yes" or "no" if she liked the flavor but being that she eats it all (but then again she eats her poop) I'm gonna say the flavor is 5-stars. The brand came highly recommended, glad I purchased!

My puppy seems to like this okay
My puppy seems to like this okay. I am still mixing it with the cheap puppy chow she was started on we're about half and half now. She had a little diarrhea at first but that was to be expected and she is fine now. She definitely likes the cheap stuff better but I know this is better for her.

Above average plant based dog food
I gave this to our 9 month old puppy who has only had Wellness brand kibble. Because he's a golden retriever, he wolfed it right down đ but the difference became noticeable after a few days when I realized his poops were smaller, like there were more of the nutrients being absorbed and less waste, and that's exactly what I'm looking for in a kibble. However, a discerning dog owner should always check deeper into what your pup is eating and make sure you're not the victim of some marketing ploy. So I checked the ingredients:The first ingredient in this dog food is potato. Potatoes can be considered a gluten-free source of digestible carbohydrates. Yet with the exception of perhaps their caloric content, potatoes are of only modest nutritional value to a dog.The second ingredient is duck meal. Duck meal is considered a meat concentrate and contains nearly 300% more protein than fresh duck. The third ingredient is duck. Although it is a quality item, raw duck contains about 80% water. After cooking, most of that moisture is lost, reducing the meat content to just a fraction of its original weight. After processing, this item would probably account for a smaller part of the total content of the finished product. The fourth ingredient is canola oil. Unfortunately, canola can be a controversial item. Thatâs because it can sometimes (but not always) be derived from genetically modified rapeseed.Yet others cite the fact canola oil can be a significant source of essential omega-3 fatty acids. In any case, plant-based oils like canola are less biologically available to a dog than fish oil as a source of quality omega-3 fats. The fifth ingredient is potato protein, the dry residue remaining after removing the starchy part of a potato.Even though it contains over 80% protein, this ingredient would be expected to have a lower biological value than meat. And less costly plant-based products like this can notably boost the total protein reported on the label â a factor that must be considered when judging the actual meat content of this dog food. The sixth ingredient is potato fiber, a source of dietary fiber. Fiber in reasonable amounts can help stabilize blood sugar levels and reduce a dog foodâs caloric content.Other ingredients include salmon oil which is naturally rich in the prized EPA and DHA type of omega-3 fatty acids. These two high quality fats boast the highest bio-availability to dogs and humans. Depending on its level of freshness and purity, salmon oil should be considered a commendable addition.Next, flaxseed is one of the best plant sources of healthy omega-3 fatty acids. Provided theyâve first been ground into a meal, flax seeds are also rich in soluble fiber. However, flaxseed contains about 19% protein, a factor that must be considered when judging the actual meat content of this dog food. In addition, we find no mention of probiotics, friendly bacteria applied to the surface of the kibble after processing to help with digestion. This means that you will need to add probiotics to your dogs food to make up for that, but it's easy to do.And lastly, this food contains chelated minerals, minerals that have been chemically attached to protein. This makes them easier to absorb. Chelated minerals are usually found in better dog foods. All of this equals an above average quality, plant-based dry dog food using a limited amount of named meats as its main sources of animal protein, thus earning the brand 4 stars. I would feel good about giving this to my pups and would recommend it to a friend looking for quality kibble for their pet.

Enticing enough my dogs didn't even insist on wet food in it............
There isn't much from this company that my dogs don't go crazy over. My Aussie mix loves the logs of moist food, and when they made small dried treats out of this food she couldn't get enough. Even though I don't have a puppy, I found this food was enticing enough to my dogs that they didn't refuse to eat it without canned food in it. Normally they get a few spoonfuls of canned quality food and won't eat their food unless that's in it. I think if my dogs ever had appetite problems I could get them to eat using a Natural Balance puppy food. Even my cat tried to stick her face in the dog bowl so it must smell awfully good. This is too rich for adult dogs as the only food,My Aussie mix bites and chews herself if she gets grains, at least that's what we've hit on as the reason. When I switched to grain free foods she stopped chewing herself. I think this is a good food to start a puppy out on, maybe nip allergies in the bud before they develop. I wish I knew 'then' what I know now about grains and allergies in dogs and cats, I would have started my Aussie out on something like this.
