Umpqua Fly Tying Tool Kit With Wood Case

I have been loading up my vise for travel and all my tools. this tool kit is great to take when traveling and camping. I fish during the day and tie flies to replace what I lost or wore out. I also tie flies I wish I had. The only thing you have to worry about is packing some material to tie.

This is a cheap vise, for sure. The lever design does not work very well as implemented. It is rather stiff and not easy to set the hook in the jaws without a good bit of jiggering to get it right. A true rotary would be much closer to horizontal. If this is for a kid - OK. If you are a serious fly-tyer, go for one of the better quality units like a Peak or Regal system; it will be money better spent.

Received this as a Christmas gift. nice wood box with felt...shiny tools....looks great but the vice base has issues. the screw does not hold the vise pole in place. It does not even tighten down. Gave up fighting the swinging vise while tying my second fly. sent an email to UMPQUA and to the supplier of this product. No response yet. Ironically this looks like the same kit you can get w/o the Umpqua name for 27 bux elsewhere on amazon. Hopefully they will offer to replace the dysfunctional piece that screws into the base, otherwise I am doomed to find another starter kit on my own. Gets two stars only because "hate" is a very strong word. Boo.
