Pretty & Easy!
Wow! So pretty & I have not much of a clue on how to decorate. But I do know my kid turns into a little monster when she has food dyes. So I went for it. Made a 1lbs powered sugar, 2 softened sticks of butter, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Whipped them. Got out 3 bowls, put 1 packet of the color in each, mixed a little cold water in each until disolved. Then in about 1/3 of butter mixture into each bowl with coloring. Mixed it with a fork for a couple minutes each. Then I put them in a baggie a cut the corners to pipe it out. They looked professional...but importantly is people said they were so good, esp the icing! Yay!

Need to use a LOT to get bold colors.
If you want bright or bold colors, you'd have to use the entire packet in one shot for a single box of cupcakes. Doesn't cover dozens of cupcakes as shown unless you want very pale colors. I used them for making bath bombs and had to use a LOT to even get a "normal" color. I used what I thought was a lot at first, and it was very pale. Because its a powder, it doesnt add any moisture content and would go with your DRY ingredients. I do like that they're natural.

and it felt great not to be giving the kids all the chemicals ...
At first I was surprised to find just three small packets in this box, but there was plenty of coloring to make a very elaborate "George Pig" cake for my son's third birthday party, and it felt great not to be giving the kids all the chemicals in regular food coloring. Who would have thought that blue icing could just be spirulina... terrific product. Could perhaps be improved by putting the coloring in tiny test-tubes with lids, for if not all the icing is used in one go... I had trouble keeping the leftovers without making a mess.

Only Enough for One Project
What! $12 for enough color for one cake and that's it! That's rediculous. I loved that these were made from real ingredients and I liked the color but not for the price. Maybe $2 would be worth it.

I won't go back to traditional colors--other uses than just baking ;)
I originally bought these to make safe crayons for bathtub fun. My kids inevitably put things in their mouths and I didn't want them eating gross chemicals. This worked perfectly for that!! I tried to bake a cake though with the pink....it was a pound cake which usually takes color very well. There was no pink at all. It was a yellow cake. Maybe you just have to use four packets---but that would get expensive. Onto frosting--works great :) I had no problems getting the color desired with frosting. I love knowing we are eating natural colors instead of Yellow #6 or Red#40..yuck.

No pink inside!
I'm a little disappointed because I found out the day I'm about to color my Frosting for my daughter's 5th birthday that the package only contained one package of yellow and two blues, no pink, so the fairy tea party cake is going to be all white and yellow now, no pink or purple. It's disappointing.

Great colors and no taste to it
I was THRILLED with this product! Great colors and no taste to it. Here's the finished cake I made with it (except for the lettering and outlines, those are done in cocoa powder). The details are done by mixing the powder with a little water and using a clean paintbrush to apply the color. I would certainly recommend this and will be using it again.

Nice colors, easy to mix
Nice colors, easy to mix. I used glycerin to mix it since I had it at home. Then I rinsed out the little shot glass and used it again for the next color, so it was wet - I noticed it was a tiny bit clumpier with water than with just glycerin, but it was still OK.Check the photo of the beach ball cake. I used the whole packet of yellow to make sure the color would be offset from the more natural off-white frosting (due to organic unbleached sugar), but used only half of the red/pink and blue packets.
