Disappointing Quality
Mystical Mandalas by Alberta Hutchinson came highly recommended to me. By a group of friends in the former Amazon Discussions forums that were closed this past October. Loving the first book that introduced me to the art form of mandalas, as well as feeling a bit sentimental. I purchased that first book along with this second book More Mystical Mandalas.Upon their arrival I was struck by the differences in these to books. The first has very good artwork and better paper quality. (Thicker pages). Below is break down of what I found.~ Thin Double- sided paper : Double sided the same as the first but, the pages are very thin poor quality paper. Even when using good quality color pencils I experienced the points going through the paper.~ Poor Picture Quality: The printing of these mandalas are rather poor. They make the book look like a *bootleg* of Alberta Hutchinson's artwork. As the designs aren't presented in the clear crisp lines of book one. They are fuzzy and blurred lines. If anyone recalls mimeograph machines and how those copies could look after awhile. You would be familiar with what I mean by a *poorly done hand-out copy* That we often received from school in the 70's and 80's . This is what these pages remind me of and why unlicensed publication quality is the comparison that comes to mind.Overall Opinion: After thinking about it. I must say that this book I don't like it. Do to the quality issues. Only three designs in back of the book remind me of book one and wish they were better done. This book is going into my tester pile. Where I test new media materials I purchase because it doesn't meet my expectations for Dover. Had this book been my introduction to mandalas I wouldn't have formed a love for them. Therefore I couldn't recommend this book to anyone.

Okay Copy Book
Based on the pretty finished images from other customers, I was anticipating a really positive experience with this coloring book. I should have read a few of the reviews a little more carefully...▪The images are printed on both sides of the pages. Thus, unless you are strictly a pencil colorist, this book is only good as a master copy book (for personal use, of course, no copyright violation there). And even then, I would put a blank sheet between the finished pages to avoid color transfer onto the facing image.▪The paper is not of a particularly high quality. Again, if you plan to use markers or even gel pens, I would copy the image first, to avoid bleed through to the next image.Overall, the designs are pretty, but the book's features limit you to particular media, unless you copy the images. It's all in personal preference.

Perfect blend of intricate and simple!
I bought one of these for myself last year and one time when my son was visiting, I asked him if he wanted to color. (He's 21.)"Really? I'm a grown-up, mom.""I know, but it's fun."I started to work on one, and he finally asked to see the book. He chose one and started to work on it.Five hours later, he was on his third mandala. :)I bought him this book and the second one and a bunch of pens for Christmas, and he and his girlfriend actually sat around the living room after dinner working on their designs.I looked at a lot of other Mandala coloring books, but this one is the perfect blend between intricate and simple. The designs are easy to color with felt-tip markers. The mandalas have such pleasing patterns, and no two are alike. Highly recommend!

I fell for mandalas with this book.
This book turned me on to the pleasure of coloring mandalas. There's a good variety from fairly simple to reasonably complex. I have colored more pages out of this one than any other book. Designs are on both sides of the pages, so I've just used color pencils to avoid bleed through. Some pages are pieces of designs very enlarged - not much fun for me, but I think it will be good for working side by side with my grandkids on the "same" designs.. Fine book at a good price.

i am really disappointed to find that both books are printed on both ...
Unfortunately i had ordered two coloring books by this author at the same time. i am really disappointed to find that both books are printed on both sides of the paper. All the other coloring books i have are properly done with only one image per page front and back. i just can't understand why any artist would think this is the acceptable way to print a coloring book. i won't ever order anything from this author again. The mandalas are alright, nothing special, and this second book's images look very similar to the first one.

Pretty.
I really like this artist's style of line art. I love the big bold lines and swirly designs. I have several books by this artist. The pages are double sided however.

great book
I really enjoyed this book (am still enjoying it) the designs are attractive and interesting -- and really help keep me centered and relaxed. The only downside is that the pictures are printed on both sides. However, this is my second copy, so I obviously like it and would recommend it.

Clean cut pictures or splashes of colors in these books
Great book! Has a lot cool designs. I actually had colored the Mendella book before when I first started coloring! I just ordered it again so when I finish I’m going to examin them side by side,

Some lovely designs in this one, nothing too complicated for an adult, but probably to difficult for children. My only gripe is that there is a drawing on each side, so not suitable for markers. However, you can photocopy onto thicker paper if you want.

Double sided
If only Mystical Mandalas and More Mystical Mandalas were printed as single sided books. Wonderful mandalas though! Thin pages.

Double sided colouring pages make you choose between pictures.
Good pictures but I personally don't like having to choose between pages, double sided colouring pages are boring when you colour in pen. One sided pages would be better.
