Met my expectations (and I'm picky)
We live in a house built in 1940. The walls are rock, and 13" thick, so no moisture barrier or insulation. Same goes for the slab; nothing to stop moisture coming through. The house has always smelled musty. My wife is allergic to mold, so I needed to reduce the moisture inside the house in order to make it an unfavorable environment for mold growth. When I got the unit, it was plug and play: Just route the drainage hose to the outside, plug into power, turn it on, and let it get to work. Even without ducting, the humidity level in the most distant room reduced to 55% (with the humidity level set at 45%).Over the past few weeks, I have been ducting it into my HVAC, which could never bring the humidity below 80% (we live in Florida, near Gainesville). I first plumbed the exhaust (dry air) into the return at the base of the air handler. That move brought the humidity in the most distant room to 50%. Next, I bought 75 feet of Cat 8 cable, and installed the remote control near my HVAC thermostat. That worked perfectly. Finally, I cut an opening to my HVAC return 8 feet above where I connected the output duct, and ran flexible 10" ducting (Rubber-Cal HVAC Ventilation-Flex) to the intake on the dehumidifier. I now have even humidity throughout the house. With the remote set at 45%, the RH runs between 42% and 47% in every room. The unit itself is quiet, especially with the ducting connected. I can't wait for summer, when the humidity is so high, you need gills to breathe.*The remote control is convenient. I mounted it at 60" above the floor, which is the same level as the HVAC thermostat. The screen is readable from eye level, below eye level, and from either side. It is unreadable from above. I'm 6', and I have to read it from an angle, or stoop to see straight on. If you buy the remote, consider mounting it so the tallest user can see it at eye level. BTW, the CAT 8 is backwards compatible with CAT 5a (supplied), and the 75 foot cable works fine.*There are scant instructions on hooking up ductwork. The instructions say to limit the total length of ductwork to 10 feet, but no explanation for this limitation. The instructions offer no recommendations for plumbing the unit in to the HVAC. Aprilaire has diagrams and instructions. Researching various other sites I found enough technical instruction to plumb the unit in to my HVAC.*There are auxiliary electrical connections on the cabinet, but the manual doesn't say anything about them, other than to illustrate their presence.*The controls give you the option of running the unit continuously. I'm guessing this means the fan will run continuously, and the dehumidification function will cycle on as needed.I'm pleased with the dehumidifier. Our home is so much more comfortable! The user manual could stand some improvement. The first photo is the installation into my HVAC system. The next photo is the remote viewed at eye level (with me crouching to view). The next photo is the screen when it is below eye level.

Best unit for the buck
Can't say enough about this dehumidifier. Installation was a breeze. Proper drainage to sewer lines. Easy programming on the on the unit, by or with a remote HMI that you can install by your thermostat. Many filter options to scrub the air in your crawl spaces.

Poor product,Good service
I’m on my 3 unit that has the same short cycle problem ,2 HD120i and a1 HDi I00. All 3 units sense the moisture from their own coils and continue to cycle every few minutes. If you buy the remote control and switch to the remote sensor mode they work fine. If you don’t use the remote controller the life of the unit will be short lived. The company is very aware of this problem and apparently will not move the location of the onboard hygrometer as to eliminate the issue. There for I do not recommend one of these 2 units!!. I’ve also learned there are other customers having the same problem. But Eileen took care of everything stuck with me through the trouble shooting was quick to respond to my messages and provided free return shipping. I live in Alaska so that was very important.. she was always as good as her word and that is hard to find these days Her service was good, the product has problems .

This dehumidifier is a workhorse that will control the humidity reliably
I recently upgraded my crawlspace dehumidifier to the ALORAIR Sentinel HDi120. It was easy to install, and came with a long power cord and plenty of tubing to run the condensate line outside. I really like the two filter system (the thicker piece is the MERV-10). It wasn't too heavy or awkward to get the unit into position and mount it on some unistrut suspended from the joists. I was also impressed by the packaging... it has an outer shell with foam protection and then an inner box with additional foam. Since installation, the humidity in my crawlspace has been kept at 48%. It's compatible with a remote control too, which I may add so I can check the status or adjust the set point without going into the crawl space. The unit is not too loud either. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and the product.

Works great! Very impressed by the quality and speed.
We ordered this ALORAIR dehumidifier based on our positive experiences with other products from this company. The air purifier worked great, so we decided to give the dehumidifier a try. I have to say, I'm impressed again. We have a large commercial office that is over 100 years old, and our basement gets very damp, especially with the heavy rains we've been having. This one unit keeps our entire basement dry. The built-in filtration is a huge plus. You really can smell the difference. If you're looking for a well-built, reliable unit, this is the one for you.

Pump failure at 2 years
Do not expect this dehumidifier to last more than 2 years before something fails rendering the unit inoperable. Until then, it worked although the efficiency was slowly declining. The manufacturer will send a replacement pump but you will have to replace it yourself. Luckily I'm capable of disassembling and reinstalling the new pump, many people may not be willing or able. In that case you would have to pay many hundreds of dollars in shipping to send it back $75-$200 each way depending on if you have to pay for packaging or not- If you threw out the crate two years ago, you probably will have to pay to package the 50+ lb unit. In the meantime, my basement is going weeks at dangerously high humidity levels.Luckily this was just a pump and it's the easiest part to replace other than the filters, had it been something more significant I would have had to mail it back at MY cost to have it replaced. In hindsight, I would have preferred to pay $500-$1000 more for something extremely reliable Vs. something that may only last a few years. I also paid for the $160 add-on insurance and they didn't offer any assistance or quick solution. For the money you'll spend in shipping to return and repair it the company could probably could send a new unit at cost.
