Looks Great, Sounds Great and very easy on the fingers.
Looks Great, Sounds Great and very easy on the fingers. I only returned it because it wasn’t the exact item I was looking for. Apparently, the new line of Baladeers comes with black Tuner Mechs and I wanted chrome. I also expected it to be made in S.Korea and it was not.

Did not care for the sound
Guitar is well made but had to return. The sound was too metallic and not as warm as I was expecting for the Ovation of of this price.Strings felt stiff with lots of buzzing even after adjusting the neck, which made it unpleasant to play.

who flip their noses up at Ovations and spend $thousands for a brand name like Martin and Taylor
IGNORE THE SNOBS... who flip their noses up at Ovations and spend $thousands for a brand name like Martin and Taylor. In 2005 for my 40th birthday I decided to bite the bullet and buy myself a steel string, after playing an awesome dreadnought Classical guitar (Ovation brand) since the mid-80s. I tried every ax in my local shop and the 1771 LX Ovation Standard Balladeer sounded the BEST. Deepest tone (less twangy) which I was used to, playing a big nylon strong guitar for so long. It has great volume and tone, and plugged into my Marshall acoustic/vocal gig amp it sounds "natural." Paid $800 back then and worth every penny.

Ovation balladeer
Sounds and looks great. Not as much acoustic volume as my Yamaha but it's tone is much sweeter and it really shines when plugged in.
