Instructions clearly state "do not disassemble friction plate", and upon opening the package, the friction plate came apart completely. Unusable.

does not work! dont waste your money or time!
after installing, the screw loosened with every closing. it would have to be tightened on every opening....took it off & tossed it!! went back to a standard elbow hinge.

The package I bought was marked "LEFT, " but ...
The package I bought was marked "LEFT," but would fit the right side of the box. While installing it, the friction mechanism came apart. It consists of a machine screw,a flat white plastic washer with both sides smooth, another white washer with a rectangular protrusion on one side and strange spring washer. I could not figure out how to reassemble it. The website shows the piece, but this information is missing. When I called the number on a Sat. afternoon, the reply was, Call on a weekday....

Brass FINISH, not brass
The price and the online description implies this is real brass, but it is only a shiny brass finish. Could have bought it at a local hardware for half the price. Will do the job but is not what I expected.
