One Last Kiss: The True Story of a Minister's Bodyguard, His Beautiful Mistress, and a Brutal Triple Homicide

It is a tragic story and I feel deep sorrow for Sheri's family and friends who loved her, she was a very beautiful person
This book is very well researched and written. Unfortunately Christ Coleman's preacher father obviously sheltered his son all his life, therefore Chris thought it was his birth right to do whatever he wanted to. It is a tragic story and I feel deep sorrow for Sheri's family and friends who loved her, she was a very beautiful person. How does a father strangle is own flesh and blood with his own hands, it's beyond human comprehension, then deny that he did this truly terrible deed! There are too many of these preacher's who are narcissistic and controlling in the churches today, they damage the work of the Lord and cause untold problems to their ministry and people who do not know scripture that states that controlling is witchcraft, Chris's father is stubborn and does not want to acknowledge his son's guilt - this is know as idolatry. He will be more accountable to GOD one day as he knows better as a leader what is right and wrong. May the LORD be lenient to this preacher and his family when reaping what they have sowed. Don't get me wrong, I believe in forgiveness but Chris had taken three precious lives and must be kept away from society and pay the penalty of what he has done. This story touched me very deeply and it makes me ashamed to think there are people in the ministry who make a mockery of Christianity, instead of teaching and preaching the unadulterated word of GOD. When people are taught truth, there is no need to control them, the Holy Spirit will guide them and convict them of sin in their lives, teach and guide them in the paths of truth.

Excellent True Crime Book - One of My Favorites!
I am partial to this type of true crime book - it has all the elements that I find interesting - an arrogant and selfish husband who must think he's good looking; his mean-spirited "religious" parents who use fire and brimstone to run their church and blindly think that their son is innocent; a beautiful wife and mother Sheri who wants to stay married to this creepy guy; two incredibly photogenic and darling sons who pay the ultimate price; and a girlfriend (who couldn't wait to become Mrs. Chris Coleman) with zero morals who is probably lucky that this all stopped with Sheri because she might have been next. What a story! I think the author Michael Cuneo put together a really great book. It's a sad tale of lust and its aftermath. The picture in the book of the beautiful wife Sheri and her two sons Garrett and Gavin is haunting. Really good book - I will look for this author again.Well, I just reread this book after 8 years and I stand by my review. Great book. Easy read. I could keep track of everyone in the story. Fascinating topic. Definitely a keeper in my true crime library. January 2021.

Fire your cousin & hire a professional editor, please!
Cuneo crafts a very detailed story which is generally well-written. However, there were a few distracting inaccurate facts (ex:dates, ages, etc) that either weren't fact checked, or perhaps the author should hire a new editor! The book is not 5-star quality due to excessive repetition toward the end, inaccuracies about Joyce Meyer Ministries, and a heavy-handed presence of Cuneo's personal opinions and cynical/condescending commentary that made me forget that I was reading a non-fiction crime story. The ending reminds me of the college days- it's 2:39 a.m., your paper is due at 8 am, & your word count is falling short by about 1,000! So you just say the same exact thing 48 different ways until you reach that word count - regardless of how irrelevant or incoherent it is! Which is another reason Cuneo should fire his editor. An editor who loves you wouldn't let that happen!Joyce Meyer may be a prosperous preacher/teacher with an abundance of followers, but she is certainly not preaching a "prosperity" gospel. If anyone has followed Joyce Meyer, they would know that she preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ and has for many, many years. As abhorrent as Coleman's crime was, Cuneo was far too present and oppressive with vilifying the whole Coleman family. I never need a true crime author to draw the horns on the criminal for me. If the book has enough research and evidence, it speaks for itself. Overall- decent read. Fortunately - most of the real distracting things occur in the last 8 chapters or so.

Deserves More Than 5 Stars
This book was one of best true crime books that I have ever read. Chris Coleman was married to a beautiful lady named Sheri and they had two precious little boys named Garett and Gavin. Chris was head of security for Joyce Meyers Ministries. Chris' parents are Ron and Connie, and his Dad is a preacher. Sheri came from a broken home. Chris' parents did not approve of Sheri. They thought she was beneath him. Sheri's family welcomed Chris, although they thought he was standoffish. For several months Chris had been receiving threatening letters and emails in regards to his family. The letters and emails made it appear that it was because of his job as head of security for Joyce Meyers Ministries. Chris notified law enforcement of the threats. On 5 May 09, Chris left his home around 5:45 am for the gym. While away from home, he had tried several times to reach Sheri to give her a wake up call but was unable to reach her. Fearing for his family's safety he phoned his neighbor Justin Barlow, who was a detective with the Columbia, Illinois Police Department and asked him if he would check on his family.Detective Barlow informed the dispatcher on the radio and requested backup. In the upstairs bedrooms, they found Sheri, Garett and Gavin all had been murdered. There were other things that transpired prior to the murders, including Chris having an affair with Sheri's best friend from High School. This is one of the saddest and most captivating books I have ever read. I cried while reading parts of the book, and it made me angry while reading other parts. I was especially angry at the total disregard that Chris' parents seemed to have regarding the death of their daughter-in-law and 2 grandsons. If you are a true crime buff, this book is a must read, but keep a box of Kleenex close by.
