Most areas work fine for a DSP-centric radio, AM selectivity is the only flaw.
Works fine on FM, AM has too narrow selectivity and only picks up stations that are far enough from clear channel stations to be picked up if they're weak, SW is ok but only managed to pick up 15 Mhz time standard once I took it outside, plays MP3's at a reasonable volume. Most areas work fine except for the AM selectivity issue with some weak stations, it can however pick up weak AM signals, but if it's a station you're not going to listen to on a near regular basis, then that flaw does one little good during an emergency when most stations would likely reduce power to conserve power for whatever limitations they may have with a potential on-site generator/fuel supply. It's only bright point is the oversized solar cell that pivots from the back of the unit, but be careful about the whip antenna as it's attached to the swivel hinge itself and might break or bend if not retracted while adjusting the solar panel. If you want the same model at a lower price, this is identical to the QFX R-37-BL sold here on Amazon, but beware, if you buy either of these models, chances are Amazon will raise the price if any interest is given these type of radios.
