Heavy Duty 7" EXTRA LONG Internal Straight Retaining Ring Clip Circlip Removal Plier

I was afraid of this by looking at the picture if they would work for my particular application...Heavy duty beefy pliers indeed, purchased to remove internal snap ring buried inside a hydraulic valve spool 2". Inside diameter 3/4", then necks down to 1/2" where the snap ring sits.The problem with this tool is the curved tips. I could insert the tips into the spool, but the outward then inward curvature of the tips prevent it's function and could not grab on to snap ring where is necks down!. I had to modify this thing to work, (as I cannot find a set of long ass set of pliers that even come close to this one) by heating the tips up and bending them straight, then grinding the outside middle a bit, then the pliers were able to open up enough to clear the sides of the spool and remove the snap ring. I was skeptical that the ends would fit the tiny hole of the ring but they fit perfectly. It was either spend the $18 and make this tool work or spend the $197 for the "Caterpillar Part# tool". I'm just glad I was able to make it do what it is supposed to do. Would of been 5 stars if i didn't have to modify it. But hey another custom one for the tool box!

I used these once to work on my truck and they are already broken. These are NOT split ring pliers, they are just long needle nose type pliers. Wish they would have lasted longer.

Strong tips and the length was exactly what I needed to remove the clutch from an AC compressor

Needed some long thin players to get to an internal snap ring deep inside some brake calipers they did the job though the ends did bend.
